The Opportunity
This position works out of our Pleasanton, CA location in the Heart Failure Division. In Abbott’s Heart Failure (HF) business, we’re developing solutions to diagnose, monitor and manage heart failure, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
We are seeking an experienced, high performing Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis who will focus on Finance tasks supporting Heart Failure R&D and Marketing Functions. This includes overseeing the preparation and consolidation of budgets and forecasts, workforce planning & analysis, lead monthly financial closing activities, lead the analysis of operating results, participate in special projects and assisting staff with all required finance tasks, ad hoc analysis, and executive presentations. Reporting to the Finance Director, the candidate will also possess excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills to drive for results.
What You’ll Work On

Serve as Finance Director’s “Chief of Staff” to manage finance deliverable calendars (Forecast, Monthly Close, Quarterly/Annual corporate requests, ad hoc requests).

Drives new insights and develop analytical tools to support the finance team’s analysis and disseminating information to key business partners.

Attend key meetings as assigned in Finance Director’s absence.

Routinely performs financial planning and analysis activities for the Heart Failure Development, Marketing, Clinical/Regulatory and Medical Affairs functions, which may include any combination of the following areas: budgeting and forecasting, detailed variance analysis, headcount analysis, purchase requisition approvals, capital management.

Leads the monthly closing process, including the review of journal entries and conducting research across multiple financial systems. Challenges variances to budget and forecast for deeper insights.

Reviews financial reports and packages completed by analysts for completeness and accuracy.

Partners with business to develop month-end analysis and commentary related to the financial close cycle and quarterly Latest Best Estimate (LBE) cycles.

Understands the business as a subject matter expert, represents the business in finance decisions.

Serve as key contact and subject matter expert for Abbott corporate finance policies and procedures (e.g. Capital, T&E, Accounting).

Participates in ad hoc analysis and reporting as required by finance management and/or the groups supported.

Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.

Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

Executes annual goals and objectives as defined by the HF Finance team.
Required Qualifications
-
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, a related field, or equivalent (MBA highly preferred).

Minimum 5 years Financial analysis experience.

Demonstrable experience utilizing finance software: SAP, Hyperion/Essbase, Power BI, Tableau, or other similar tools.

Comprehensive knowledge of balance sheet transactions and their impacts on the income statement.

Ability to prioritize deliverables for timely submissions and reviews.
-
Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills with effective executive presence.

Preferred Qualifications

7+ years of finance experience with progressively more responsibility.

A qualified record of implementing new processes effectively and efficiently.

An in-depth knowledge and experience of GAAP.

Documented record of delivering information that adds value to management’s decision-making process.

Advanced computer skills including spreadsheet, word processing, database management, and other relevant applications.

Ability to meet the deadlines on multiple assignments.

Must be able to perform in a diverse cross-functional team environment.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to understand the “why” of business drivers.

Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

$112,000.00 – $224,000.00
