About the role

We are currently looking for a manager who will oversee all activities and deliverables for various Finance and Business projects within the Finance ecosystems. The Manager Finance Transformation & Systems plays a critical role in each project by coordinating the various Business stakeholders and collaborating closely with the technology teams to ensure project success.  The person will be responsible for the business requirements, functional design, testing and overall project delivery for all projects assigned to them.

The ideal candidate will be solution minded, possess strong leadership skills, be innovative, agile with a strong sense of teamwork/collaboration. You will work closely and report to the Director - Finance Transformation & Systems.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team to effectively utilize strengths of team members.

  • Train/mentor/coach/guide individuals and teams and act as an enabler and give them the support they need to excel.

  • Effectively identify and develop talent, demonstrate strong performance management within your team.

  • Enhance and improve employee engagement levels.

  • Manage Agile projects by understanding the business strategies, priorities, and issues.

  • Leverage capabilities to propose appropriate solutions and deliver business value.

  • Define the overall project scope and objectives with business sponsors.

  • Provide project leadership and vision; formalize processes, procedures and quality control measures; develop and manage project resource plan and project dependencies.

  • Manage sponsor and stakeholder expectations.

  • Responsible of the initiatives regarding planning, monitoring and managing of internal projects from initiation through completion.

  • Apply influence and negotiation to gain support and achieve consensus.

  • Manage project and other initiatives, to ensure project completion is on time, and within scope.

  • Identify and assess risks, implement risk mitigation strategies including severity and impact assessments.

  • Provide overall project status – progress reports, metrics, issues, etc.

  • Monitor implementation efforts and transition issues to ensure that business risks are identified and solutions are recommended.

  • Support organizational change management efforts, related to assigned projects or otherwise.

What you bring to the table:

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of finance processes, accounting principles, and project management – is required

  • Excellent management of projects with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Independent Thinker - Not afraid to challenge the status-quo and offer / implement alternate solutions and process improvements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Finance, Accounting – is required

  • CPA designation, master’s degree, or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP) is an asset

Experience:

  • Minimum 8-years experience managing projects from end to end, knowledge of finance systems and processes

  • Minimum 5-years leadership experience managing direct reports – is required

  • Knowledge of the Agile methodology – is an asset

  • Knowledge of Visio, Office Suite (includes Advanced Excel) and Sharepoint – is required

  • Understanding of Jirra system dashboard for reporting- is an asset

  • Proven track record of effectively managing people, driving team performance, and fostering a positive work environment

  • Strong knowledge of P&C insurance
