Job Summary
Position responsible for supervision and coordination of personnel and functions for the daily activities engaged in the operation and maintenance of Hospital physical plant facilities and equipment. This position will also be responsible for planning, coordinating, inspecting and managing all construction activities within the campus.Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Business preferred or related field
Licenses/Certifications: (None)
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

Ten years' experience in management of electrical, HVAC systems, refrigeration and plumbing

Previous healthcare experience in operations and maintenances, and project management

Licensure as either a Stationary Engineer, Maintenance Electrician, or HVAC Contractor/Technician
Principal Accountabilities
-
Manages, plans, organizes, actuates and controls the Hospital Engineering Department daily maintenance operation.
-
Maintains compliance in applicable codes, rules, standards and regulations pertaining to the operation. Stays current with JCAHO standards, city, state and federal building codes.

Controls utility usage; manages the operation of energy management system. Accounts for utility expenditures in the $8 to 9 million range.

Supervises and coordinates all personnel in daily activities engaged in the operation and maintenance of the hospital’s physical plant facilities and equipment; staffs, schedules and manages performance issues.

Monitors and develops the Engineering Department’s annual operational and inventory budgets of $5+ million.

Coordinates and manages construction activities, special projects, and assignments as directed by departmental management and hospital administration.

Is a vital member of the safety committee and is an active member of various environment of care subcommittees, specifically including utility management and fire prevention subcommittees. May also be required to chair one or more of these committees.

Develops plans and manages the facilities engineering capital budget of approximately $1 to 5 million.

Is directly responsible for design, development and implementation of way finding initiatives and activities at the hospital.

Develops, plans and manages the interior finish and furniture standards program at the hospital

Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors, adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity of service.

Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
