About the role

We’re looking for a Manager, Business Practices & Insights in Ontario.

As a Manager, Claims Business Practices & Insights, you are leading a team of talented Business Advisors.  You are an expert in using analytics to tell a story and to drive change. You provide clear direction and challenge the status quo. You recruit, are  accurate and relevant to drive business transformation and operational success.  You maintain clear and focused priorities and expectations for the team.  You deliver what you say you will,  take great pride in your team’s work and participate in strategic discussions and healthy debates, collaborating across our centers of excellence and with senior management. You move quickly within a changing environment and are up to date with the latest analytics and reporting trends.

What you’ll do here:

The main responsibilities are to lead a high-performing team of Business Advisors and Analytical Professionals, ensuring ongoing development, engagement and effectiveness; liaise with COE’s to ensure analytical needs are being met, support in a holistic view of business insights for Ontario Claims.

Reporting to the Director, Business Practices & Insights, the Manager will work to ensure analytical priorities are clear, COE’s reporting requirements are met, and Business Advisors are engaged and adding value to the Claims operation. Collaborating with key business partners like Workforce Planning, CDAT, Finance, and Operations Leaders in Ontario, the Manager, Business Practices & Insights will ensure adequate business intelligence is provided to key decision makers, the health of the operation is maintained based on monitoring KPI’s and flagging trends, and new business ideas are generated in a timely fashion with strong business cases and financial estimates.

People Leadership:

  • Support each staff member, creating maximum employee engagement and ensuring their success by providing feedback, identify and develop talent, manage performance and professional development.

  • Responsible for the adequate planning of resources to support organization’s initiatives and projects. Maintains team's capacity plan in a proactive and efficient manner and continuously seeks solutions to achieve objectives, meet priorities and support organization’s roadmap.

  • Actively lead team meetings and facilitate effective one on one meetings 

  • Train/mentor/coach/guide individuals and teams and act as an enabler and give them the support they need to excel

Business Strategy:

  • Actively participate in strategic planning efforts with COE’s

  • Leverage capabilities to propose appropriate solutions and deliver business value.

  • Maintain active dashboards and synthesize trends and ‘so-what’ for the business.
     

Reporting, Dashboards, Scorecards, Analytics:

  • Maintain high-quality reports and analytics to support the COE’s

  • Monitor impacts of initiatives to ensure benefits are realized

  • Provide key inputs for decision making and business case creation

  • Support budget reviews and operational reviews on a monthly basis

  • Maintain DSVP scorecard and COE – level operational scorecards
     

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial, or Business Management

  • Minimum of 8 years experience in Analytics and Reporting; ability to synthesize large data sets and easily articulate the so-what

  • Ability to influence at all levels

  • No Canadian work experience required, but must have authorization to work in Canada.
