Proven leader with underwriting expertise needed
Lead a regional underwriting team specializing in commercial and small business lending. You’ll manage and coach a team of underwriters and partner with sales staff in preparing files for approval, ensuring consistency in approach and risk mitigation.
This position is designated bilingual (English and French), and the successful candidate must be able to communicate in both of Canada’s official languages.
What you’ll do:
- Review your team members’ narrative underwriting for commercial and small business proposals prior to Credit Risk submission to ensure narratives are succinct and complete
- Provide sound advice, detailed feedback and intensive coaching to underwriters
- Serve as a primary communication channel between Credit Risk and sales staff for all credit applications that run through the regional team
What we’re looking for:
- Proven leader with an established track record of collaborating with internal and external partners
- A highly professional approach to business and partner relationships
- Strong communicator who can explain complex information and share knowledge to diverse audiences
- Analytical thinker with the ability to evaluate complex lending situations
What you’ll need:
- A bachelor’s degree and at least five years of experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Expertise in analyzing commercial and small business lending opportunities, and applying advanced credit analysis and risk mitigation strategies to lending situations
- Proven experience in underwriting credit applications
- Commercial lending experience is considered an asset
