Western Digital, the leader in storage technology, seeks an organized and energetic Design & Engineering Program Manager. This is an outstanding opportunity to bring innovative ideas to a diverse and global design team developing a wide range of consumer technology products.
Job Description
- The Design and Engineering Program Manager will support the industrial design and development of SanDisk flash-based consumer technology products, including desktop SSDs, portable SSDs, USB storage devices, and card readers.
- This role includes front-end collaboration with R&D and supplier teams to identify and develop innovative design processes and architectures that enable us to deliver best-in-class products to a highly dynamic market.
- The Program Manager will also coordinate the implementation of new processes and architectures across multiple product lines to ensure that design, engineering, quality, and schedule requirements are being met.
- This role is well-suited for an experienced individual in a design or engineering discipline looking to make the transition into a program management.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of experience in technical project lead/engineering lead/program management role.
- Experience with High Volume Manufacturing of products required, including tooling and production environments.
- Strong knowledge of a variety of manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal, casting, rapid prototyping and other secondary process surface treatments is desired but not required.
- Ability to concurrently lead multi-disciplinary product development projects and teams with successful outcomes.
- Good organization and presentation skills to effectively communicate and summarize to all levels of the business.
- Ability to overcome roadblocks and challenges to keep projects moving forward.
- Ability to partner with industrial designers to ensure design intent and overall part quality are met.
- Strong communication skills to support frequent supplier discussions (onsite/remote) to maintain progress.
- Ability to communicate in English (Mandarin is a plus).
- Travel up to 10%
