Cape Fear Habitat has an opening for a team member to design, implement and lead its major gifts program. The ability to research and develop new major donors, form and steward those relationships and close large gifts are some of the qualities that will make you a good fit for this job.

Responsibilities

Donor Relations Management

  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of major gift prospects, with a focus on cultivating donors of gifts of $50,000 and up.
  • Develop and grow relationships with major donors and prospects, develop a solicitation strategy for major gift prospects and utilize Raiser’s Edge to document and track all interactions.
  • Communicate with donors and prospects on a regular basis, utilizing email, face-to-face cultivation, solicitation and stewardship meetings. Ensure that each major donor and prospect has a clear strategy and timeline for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
  • Develop and launch a Planned Giving Program to solicit and steward donors to engage in planned giving. Work with the Communications and Marketing Coordinator to develop materials and website to promote the program.
  • Work with the Development Director to manage revenue projections and an expense budget, as well as pledges and pledge fulfillments.
  • Conduct research through the existing donor database, shared donor data through the Habitat 2.0 Fundraising exchange, and other donor research tools to identify new major gift prospects.
  • Work with the Communications and Marketing Coordinator to develop materials to support donor communication and stewardship.
  • Be a visible presence at special events, fundraising events, receptions and gatherings.
  • Work collaboratively with the Volunteer Program Manager to ensure that volunteer opportunities meet the needs and expectations of current and prospective donors.
  • Work collaboratively with board members and staff on fundraising.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience plus a minimum of 3-5 years (direct or equivalent) experience managing high level donor relationships with demonstrated success in closing gifts of $50,000 and above.
  • Ability to conceive, plan, and execute a major gifts program and a planned giving program.
  • Excellent grasp of Raiser’s Edge database software.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a team
  • Willingness to be hands-on in a role that is demanding and requires a high level of energy and professionalism.
  • High level proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and a working knowledge of search functions for donor research purposes.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to prioritize workload in a timely manner to complete assignments with many deadlines and competing requirements.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Physical Demand Requirements

  • Routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, printers and copiers
  • Capability to perform physical duties such as standing, walking, sitting, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
