Mainframe Capacity Planner
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Capacity Planner to join our team in Coppell, TX or Costa Mesa, CA. This is a hybrid role.
The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of CICS, DB2, RMF/CMF, and SMF. They will use tools such as SAS, MXG, and MS-Excel daily.
The role involves in-depth planning, based on information from the business units and from the development teams to gauge how the requirements on the mainframe system will evolve over time.
Additionally, the role needs to be able to assess the impact of new system software and hardware (i.e. how will the latest version of CICS change our requirements?). The role involves routine analysis to answer questions like "What or who just hit us?" and "If we add 10% more records to a DB2 table, how will that impact response time?".
Finally confident, effective business communication skills are essential as this role will require communicating complex issues to business leadership.
What You'll Do:

Monitor and analyze mainframe system performance and usage patterns.

Develop and maintain capacity forecasts and plans.

Utilize RMF/CMF, and SMF data to identify and resolve capacity-related issues.

Use SAS, MXG, and MS-Excel for data analysis and reporting.

Collaborate with other teams to ensure optimal use of mainframe resources.

Provide insights and recommendations based on performance data to improve system efficiency.

Answer ad-hoc queries regarding system performance impacts and capacity planning.

Prepare and present regular reports on capacity utilization and future requirements.
What You'll Need:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Extensive experience with CICS, DB2, RMF/CMF, and SMF.

Proficiency in using SAS, MXG, and MS-Excel for data analysis.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Experience with capacity planning and performance tuning in a mainframe environment.

Familiarity with additional mainframe tools and technologies.

Ability to provide clear and actionable insights from complex data sets.

The starting pay range for this position is:
$129,400.00 - $172,000.00
Additionally, for full time positions, you will be eligible to participate in our incentive program based upon the achievement of organization, team and personal performance.
