About the role

Reporting to the RFQ Analysis Lead, the Logistics Procurement Analyst is responsible for providing analytics to support holistic value and cost reduction across DS Smith Group’s logistics spend.  The annual Logistics spend that the role supports is ~£600M.  The role works directly with Procurement Category Managers and local market finance teams manage data to provide data sights.

The role covers Logistics and stakeholders across all regions and divisions within DS Smith.  Holistic value includes the identification of service and sustainability.  Key stakeholders are across all regions, divisions and within Group Purchasing & Supply.

Key responsibilities:

Logistics Insights

  • Generate and share logistics market insights across Europe and North America for stakeholders

  • Track and incorporate logistics index and inflation changes to rate cards

  • Provide logistics inflation data to Finance for budget and forecast tracking

Transport & Warehouse Data Analysis

  • Gather and cleanse logistics data from different sources

  • Analyse logistics data to create site volume and cost baseline profiles

  • Create and maintain rate cards according to stakeholder needs

  • Maintain a master list of suitable logistics suppliers for inclusion in sourcing events

  • Prepare data and documents for Request for Quotation (RFQ)

RFQ Administration (RFQ)

  • Plan and coordinate logistics related RFQs based on stakeholder requirements

  • Define RFQ milestones and coordinate with stakeholders to deliver RFQs

  • Create RFQs using an eSourcing platform ensuring distribution to suitable suppliers agreed with stakeholders

  • Provide eSourcing platform support through the RFQ process to stakeholders

  • Create RFQ related analytics to provide decision insights to stakeholders

  • Generate final allocation award rate card as decided on by stakeholders

Functional Competencies

  • A strong knowledge and demonstrated experience of data management and analytics

  • Experience of sourcing and the use of eSourcing tools

Leadership / Behavioural Competencies

  • Delivery of results: Ability to deliver results against agreed timelines

  • Problem solving: Ability to use information, analysis and insights to identify and unlock opportunities

  • Programme delivery: Ability to manage multiple sourcing events simultaneously with competing resources and priorities

  • Prioritisation skills: Ability to prioritise work with support from line manager to deliver analytics and sourcing initiatives in a complex matrix environment

  • Communication and Influencing: Ability to build strong trusting relationships with cross functional and cross geographical stakeholders in an ambiguous and complex matrix

About you

  • University Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or similar studies with analytical background

  • Previous experience in analytical roles or services

  • Experience in Logistics Operations or Procurement

  • Experience created/proven ongoing relationships with key suppliers at senior levels

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power BI

  • Experience with an eSourcing tool, Transport Management System or ERP considered a benefit but not mandatory

  • Excellent written and spoken English

  • Military obligations fulfilled (for male candidates)

  • Strong analytical thinking and way of working

  • Methodical and well organized, motivated by teamwork, collaboration and sharing knowledge
