Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist warehouse activities during times when the Warehouse Supervisor is not in the building.
- Help Warehouse Supervisor in delegating and completing tasks.
- Identify issues and participate in corrective actions.
- Train new employees (Packers and Material Handlers).
- Work weekends/overtime in accordance with set departmental/company policies.
- Assist colleagues when necessary to ensure a smooth running of the warehouse.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives implementation.
- Perform specific approved operator level equipment maintenance.
- Execute PPE safety standards while ensuring escalation of issues such as the adherence to PPE.
- Monitor departmental 5S activities, ensuring compliance and standards are met.
- Ensure all warehouse documentation applicable to the job is completed in a timely, accurate manner.
- Transport and/or facilitate the movement of material between warehouses and to production and quality.
- Assist supervisor in motivating the team.
- Report any safety, quality and productivity issues to supervisors and managers.
- Make sure operators are properly using tools and equipment while escalating damage or non-adherence.
- Ensuring that MH line clearance procedures are adhered to.
- Assist in keeping professionalism and respect the standards of the working space.
- Assist in inventory accuracies are being maintained.
- Ensure all scrap procedures are being adhered to.
- Maintain proper storage of materials and indirect supplies.
- Respond to emails and phone calls in a timely manner.
- Verify Goods Received (GR) process steps are being accurately followed.
- Make sure materials are being staged properly and FIFO (First-In-First-Out) is being followed.
- Perform Team Leader level audits.
- Other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Works in a clean manufacturing and warehouse environment that may include moderate noise levels.
Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Capability to lead a team of 6.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Ability to lift up to 55lbs.
- Sitting and standing over differing long periods of time.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Excellent communication skills, professional and courteous.
- Well organized with strong attention to detail.
- Experience with SAP (materials management system) or ability to learn
- Commitment to getting tasks done in a timely, accurate manner.
- Ability to perform material handler and packer responsibilities
- Intermediate computer skills with experience with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Must be a team player capable of providing leadership and buy-in from their team
- Works in a clean manufacturing and warehouse environment that may include moderate noise levels.
