Logistics Manager
Purpose and Scope:
The Logistics Manager provides leadership and directing of the supply chain employee activities. Plans and coordinates the ordering and distribution of products, parts and accessories.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Ensures adequate and timely distribution to attain maximum sales potential consistent with good inventory control.
- Develops and implements customer service functions, physical distribution warehousing, and production and traffic strategies.
- Implements the multi-plant, multi-distribution system and logistics strategic planning.
- Establishes and executes policies, programs and procedures to support market delivery requirements.
- Manages the ongoing distribution functions and appropriate interfaces.
- Creates physical distribution network capable of achieving proper inventory levels.
- Identifies hardware and software requirements to support distribution.
- Manages all distribution functions including stocking, shipping and receiving.
- Determines standardized procedures and work schedules to improve efficiency of subordinates.
- Provides leadership and knowledge to staff members and teams as necessary.
- Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Typically, eight (8) to ten (10) years of experience in logistics with at least one (1) year in supervision or management of logistics or related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in an associated degree preferred. Two (2) years' experience in accounting may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college.
- Prefer certification by professional association in a related logistics, supply chain, property organization.
- Strong analytical and data entry skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software with strong knowledge of databases and spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of logistics, supply principles, and supply chain management.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong team-building and team-member skills.
- Prefer working knowledge of MILSTRIP, FEDSTRIP, and GSAdvantage logistics procedures and categories.
- Prefer knowledge of Global Combat Support System – Army (GCSS-A).
- Ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance at proper level.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communications, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. Must be able to access hazard operational areas which may include the wearing of PPE for periodic oversite of operational activities.
