Position Summary
The Customer Sales Specialist is responsible for creating a book of business and creating new customer sales for the brokerage division in a 3rd Party Logistics environment of an Asset Based Carrier.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify logistics and shipping personnel and establish points of contact as well as building, maintaining and strengthening those relationships.
- Build a portfolio of business by selling freight services in multiple modes, Full Truck load, Liquid Bulk, Flatbed, Reefer, and Specialized shipments
- Provide exemplary customer service in a logistics environment of a 3PL Brokerage.
- Oversee customer operations on accounts and communicate directly with transportation and logistics deparments on their day to day shipments.
- Accurately, and effectively price, negotiate, and win spot freight and contractual freight via RFPs
- Create opportunity for relationship building by identifying new leads and contacts in shipping and transportation.
- Create and use a customer lead list targeting growth accounts.
- Build higher level customer relations within the transportation industry to gain business.
- Cover shipments as necessary.
- Review customer accounts receivable (AR) and ensure payment is made.
- Actively work to achieve and exceed quarterly and yearly goals including quotas, referral metrics and sales goals.
- Collaborate with Director, Brokerage Services regarding sales strategies.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Job Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Experience using Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

- Specific vision requirements include the ability to see at close range, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Work Environment:
- The position typically operates in a standard office environment.
- This position routinely uses office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, file cabinets, and fax machines. Excellent office and tech skills required.

Salary Range:
Disclaimer: The salary range for this position is $45,000 to $60,000 annually plus commission. This range is based on market data and internal equity. The final offer will be determined by various factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, skills, qualifications, and geographic location.
