About the Position

The Safety Manager ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as ensuring compliance with Company safety requirements. We are looking to hire an individual who will make safety and customer service their top priorities and would like to be an integral part of a Company that fulfills the transportation needs of the Community we serve.

Safety Manager Responsibilities:

  • Conduct or assist General Manager with safety training and meetings.
  • Manage driver training and may conduct driver training, recommend retraining and discipline as required.
  • Review accident reports to reduce the number and severity of accidents, maintain complete safety files (i.e., accident report, I-9, bus reports, worker compensation injury reports).
  • Maintain or coordinate complete personnel record keeping.
  • Maintain substance abuse file.
  • Coordinate compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and work closely with General Manager or Designee to accomplish company objectives.
  • Must be able to obtain the required license for all vehicles at the Project location, maintain that license.
  • Must be able to pass all requirements to be qualified as a Vehicle Operator would at the location.
  • Manage all drug testing procedures at the location (random, pre-employment, post-accident, etc.).
  • Make sure all operators are approved by NJT prior to going into service.
  • Identify any safety issues and develop plan to improve location safety.
  • Responsible for scheduling, planning, and conducting monthly safety meetings.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Safety Manager Requirements:

  • 2 to 3 years of transportation, safety, or related experience.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and written.
  • Work extended hours, including weekends if necessary.
  • Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Manage personnel effectively.
  • Oversee and monitor all safety issues.
  • Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Local travel as needed to conduct company business.
  • Work environments include office, transit facility, fieldwork, maintenance facility, and transit vehicles.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
