Job Title: Linux System Administrator
As an Linux System Administrator, you will have a diverse technology background to implement and maintain day to day support on all aspects of the corporate technology environment. A successful candidate will provide analysis, recommendations for improvement, and help drive initiatives to completion. The engineer will engage in strategic planning and tactical activities to continuously improve and meet business needs.
Responsibilities and duties (include but not limited to)
- Maintain and manage Linux servers, ensuring high availability and optimal performance
- Maintain and manage the OpenLDAP Directory service for user and group authentication
- Manage user and group management policies, ensuring proper access controls
- Create user accounts, configure access permissions and provide initial training to users
- Implement and enforce disk quota policies to optimize storage utilization
- Assist in developing and maintain automated processes for onboarding new Linux users
- Familiarity with AWS and assist in managing cloud infrastructure
- Liaising with multiple stakeholders across all areas of the business on a daily/weekly basis keeping all informed regarding issues and solutions
- IT professional to provide in-office desktop support as well as global support
- Provide macOS technical support to end users
- Create, contribute, and maintain a working knowledge base and document issues that are conducive to knowledge transfer
- Participate 24x7x365 on call staff coverage
- Perform and manage any special projects/tasks assigned
Education, Skills, and background (incl. Education and Experience Requirements)
- 3+ years of working experience in deploying, maintaining and supporting Linx Server infrastructure and storage systems in an enterprise environment.
- RHCA certifications is preferred
- Experience in operating system upgrades and applying security updates (patching), proficiency in managing schedulers and cron jobs.
- Experience in network-based operating system installations (kickstart) and proficiency in managing Redhat Linux, clusters, and satellite systems.
- Experienced in automation and scripting languages.
- Experience with Virtualization technologies such as VMware.
- Experience with other directory services (e.g.,Active Directory, OpenLDAP).
- A good understanding of SSSD for seamless integration with Active Directory
- Familiarity working with Mac Operating system
- Proven ability to work effectively independently using own initiative.
- Excellent communication skills; clearly conveys information, excellent writing / documentation skills.
- Ability to multi-task and change priorities as needed.
- to support a 24/7 production environment.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing environments.
Working Arrangements (Build into Template)
This position is hybrid, with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. Though travel may be required from time to time, it is not expected to be regular or frequent. The role holder will be expected to work whatever hours are necessary for the performance of this role (recognizing that it involves multiple jurisdictions / geographies including but not limited to EMEA, USA and APAC)
