Your Opportunity as a Legal Intern 

As an intern within our Legal department, you will gain substantive legal experience in numerous areas of law, including general corporate law, contract drafting and negotiation, litigation, securities, advertising, food law, intellectual property, and moreYou will have the opportunity to work on projects with various attorneys within Smucker’s in-house legal department and will also participate in meetings with internal business teams, leadership, and external counsel used by the company. Successful candidates will efficiently manage tasks, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines for projects while maintaining a high standard of work, exhibit initiative by identifying areas where assistance is needed and taking proactive steps to contribute to the legal team's effectiveness.   

 

Location: Orrville, Corporate Offices 

 

Work Arrangements: Hybrid, 30% in office expectations  

 

In this role you will:  

  • Perform legal research 

  • Draft memos & prepare high-level overviews of emerging legal issues 

  • Assist in drafting internal policies & other company legal resources 

  • Document reviews related to company litigation 

  • Present new case law & regulations to the attorney team 

 

 

What we are looking for:  

  • 1L or 2L (current full-time student); 2L or 3L (current part-time student); Spring Starts and 3+3 students are welcome 

  • Interest in corporate law or obtaining in-house legal experience 

  • Strong academics and involvement in extracurriculars, with preferred class rank in the top 40% 

  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills 

  • Collaborative, curious and self-motivated 

  • Resume must include GPA and class rank (if available)
