As the Lead UI Engineer, you will spearhead the design and implementation of intuitive UI systems for our video games, ranging from front-end menus to matchmaking and in-game HUDs. Working closely with our talented UI/UX team, you will iterate on designs, refine functionality based on playtest feedback, and ensure our games offer seamless user experiences. This role combines technical expertise with leadership, requiring a strong sense of design and the ability to inspire and guide your team.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of UI engineers, fostering growth and collaboration.
  • System Architecture: Design and architect scalable and efficient UI systems.
  • Integration & Support: Assist UI artists in integrating art assets and data into user interfaces.
  • Localization: Address various localization requirements, including in-game text, fonts, textures, and voiceover integration.
  • Optimization: Profile and tune UI systems to achieve optimal performance.
  • Feedback & Growth: Conduct 1-on-1 reviews, provide both personal and technical feedback, and help team members level up their skills.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a leadership role managing and mentoring a team of engineers
  • Strong proficiency in C++
  • Experience with UMG in Unreal Engine 4 or 5
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and work well within a team
  • Passionate gamer with a love for crafting exceptional gaming experiences

Preferences

  • Prior experience shipping a PC game with multiple input options
  • Previous work on multiplayer titles
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

The estimated base pay range for this role is: $140,000 - $190,000 USD
