About The Opportunity
Responsible to lead and coordinate the successful concept, design, build and on-time launch of Injection Mold Tooling. Role actively supports commercial teams, works daily with injection mold designers and tool build shops (both internal and external) to bring injection mold tools (high pressure and structural foam) to production. Orbis-CTI-Orion is a custom project plastic injection molder where design and construction of 200-300 injection molds per year is common.
1. Work closely with Injection Mold Designers on concepts, prioritization and designs of plastic injection mold tools (high pressure and structural foam).
2. Work closely with Sales and Product Planning Mgr. giving active guidance for proper quoting of tool costs and timing.
3. Work closely with Engineering and Program Management to give active guidance on molding and tooling best practices during product design.
4. Work closely with Tool Room supervisor to schedule and coordinate tool builds. Monitor daily CNC machine activities.
5. Work closely with tooling vendors to source and manage workload of outsourced design and injection mold tool builds. Develop injection mold suppliers/vendors as needed.
6. Lead and manage tool build schedule ensuring on-time tool completion. Tracking, monitoring and reporting status of tool builds.
7. Play an active role in tool First Article runs to ensure parts are produced to specification.
8. Coordinate tool modifications as required. Working with plant personnel, shipping and vendors as necessary to complete to changes.
9. Provide overall leadership to design and build injection mold projects.
10. Mentor, teach and lead Tool Room personnel to follow proper processes and procedures.
11. Troubleshoot mold issues in and out of the press.
12. Maintain all applicable documentation and accurate records for mold history.
13. Follow corporate, department, environmental, quality and safety programs, including the use of PPE.
14. Follow company policies, procedures and guidelines including the company handbook.
15. Offer mold, plant and companywide continuous improvement suggestions.
16. Be actively involved in Continuous Improvement; is expected to promote and sustain any and all CI, 5S and STW activities.
17. Other duties as assigned.

Education/Certification
Level Required - High school diploma or equivalent
Level Desired - Bachelor’s degree
Work Experience
Required / Desired
• 10 years of related Tool Room/Mold Shop experience
• 5 years of injection mold design experience
• 3-5 years of experience with CNC programming and operations
