What we need 

Our Lead System Test Engineers work closely with customers and on-site team members to ensure the successful implementation of customer projects from the initial software drop through all phases of system testing. The primary responsibility of the Lead System Test Engineer is to support multiple initiatives that achieve major milestones such as integration testing, functional testing and volume testing to ensure that Symbotic delivers a production ready system. 

 

What we do  

The Lead System Test Engineer is part of the Operations organization that leads preparation and readiness efforts, tasks, and testing to ensure the successful implementation of the SYM system at our new customer sites. The Customer Site Deployment organization partners cross-functionally and directly with our customers to drive and execute onsite structural and systems deployments, in preparation for final acceptance of the Symbotic system  

 

What you’ll do 

  • Lead a team of System Test Engineers in the field at our customer sites. 

  • Ensure that the safety commitments in compliance with OSHA, Symbotic, and our customers’ processes and procedures are met daily. 

  • Lead and Perform inspections on systems associated with Automated Storage and Retrieval System of automated robotic vehicles and Automated Adapters/ Lifts. 

  • Drive continuous operation by adjusting, calibrating, repairing, replacing, or modifying system components. 

  • Working Excel knowledge (Importing datasets, basic chart production, running Pivot Tables, applying filters on data) 

  • Troubleshoot PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) driven devices 

  • Participate in the development of integration and functional test plans. 

  • Assist with setup and execution of test cases 

  • Basic hands on troubleshooting and system operation 

  • Participate in the defect management process of by identifying and documenting hardware and software issues 

  • Creating and maintaining a professional teamwork environment and being an excellent team player while working with various members of the engineering and on-site teams 

 

What you’ll need 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience 

  • Minimum of 5 Years of technical and minimum of 2 years of leadership/supervisory experience preferred. 

  • Existing computer knowledge with experience with Microsoft Excel, SQL, Windows, Linux is a plus 

  • A willingness to learn a deeper level of knowledge of all aspects of a complex system 

  • Excellent team player, able to work professionally with members of various engineering teams 

  • Willingness to adhere to the safety work policy provided 

  • Ability to work in rapidly changing startup environment. 

  • Must be willing to work weekends and off shifts 

  • Must have credit card available for travelling expenses 

  • Please note- Travel 75% 

 

Our Environment 

  • Remote, field-based position.  

  • Travel is required up to 75% of the time. Employee must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. 

  • The employee is responsible to own a credit card and manage expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis. 

  • Our headquarters is in Wilmington, MA. The person taking this position will be required to perform work at our customer installation locations for extended periods of time where equipment is installed and ready for commissioning. (Commissioning Team). 

  • The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.  

  • The employee is routinely required to work at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  

  • Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.  

  • Approximately 75% of time will be spent on a construction site with PPE required (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness).  

  • There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure You may be required to routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure. 

  • You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.  

  • Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.
