Job is:
Certificated
Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Plan, organize and direct Special Education programs, special education teachers and other special education staff.

Assist in the interpretation of the law and Educational Code.
-
Provide interpretation and guidance of compliance to laws.
-
Direct Special Ed programs or projects and perform related duties as assigned.
-
Train staff in planning and implementation of individual education programs for children with disabilities.
-
Coordinate curricular resources and make them available and effective for personnel who are in need of the resources.
-
Monitor Star Renaissance and develop support systems to improve any skills deficits.
-
Support SES teachers to ensure IEP goals are individualized.
-
Monitor LCAP students with IEPs.
-
Develop relationships with local school districts, especially program specialists, and invite to IEPs as needed.

Research community college resources for special education and 504
-
Liaison for related service providers.
-
Carry caseload as needed.
-
Provide instructional strategies and supports to general and special education teachers.
-
Serve on assessment teams and individualized education program teams.
-
Schedule and participate in IEP meetings with students and parents as needed.
-
Provide support to the general education program through facilitating Student Study Team meetings and Section 504 plans.
-
Provide regular training & updates to special education teachers & general education staff related to support to general and special education students.
-
Supervise special education teachers.
-
Monitor staff caseloads, communicate with Prep/OFY leadership, and suggest hiring needs.

Deal with challenges inherent in working with multiple school districts and multiple clients.

Significant physical abilities include reaching, handling, talking, hearing conversations and others sounds, visual acuity/depth perception.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

Five years of successful Special Education experience preferred.

Master’s degree with emphasis on Specialized Training in Special Education curriculum and instruction preferred.
Education and Experience:

BA/BS Degree

Valid California Teaching Credential in Special Education (Mild/Moderate)
