Job Description

Lead Software Engineer (DST Health Solutions, LLC, Kansas City, MO): The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining or supporting information technology solutions by creating new and/or modifying existing software applications that provide a business function for the organization or its customers. The role will work in a technical environment for software development consisting of multiple system platforms and a variety of methodologies, techniques, languages, tools, and utilities. This position is responsible for leading medium to large projects or working on complex or high-profile issues that require a broad perspective, conceptual thinking, and in-depth analysis to identify solutions. Additionally, this position will develop policies and procedures, recommending best practices, and provide direction to more junior professionals. Specific responsibilities include: Using current programming languages tools and technologies proprietary to SS&C Pharmacy solutions to build and implement a new suite of DomaniRx applications to expand the capabilities of Claims Processing applications including Accumulations, Reversals and Dual Book functionality. Collaborating with the DomaniRx Architecture team to identify new techniques and methodologies that identify solutions needed to process claims at the optimum level. Performing Agile methodology activities required and acts as a point of contact for different stakeholders in executing development and implementation of products and developer best practices. Exploring and applying new techniques to current systems for scalability, sustainability and modernization of the DomaniRx applications with the latest optimization and cost reduction techniques. Utilizing CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes to deliver application solutions. Implementing industry-wide best practices around microservices development. Building common components for reuse across the organization, maintaining documentation, demo applications, and reviewing pull requests. Evolving the development ecosystem by exploring and prototyping new ways of meeting business needs. Using Microservices architecture with Spring Boot based services to interact through a combination of REST and Apache Kafka message brokers. Implementing security for Microservices using Spring Security, OAuth and JWT. Using tools like Opensearch, Datadog, Kibana to check the Microservice module logs. Designing and implementing application using Java/J2EE technologies, Spring boot, Hibernate, XML, JMS, JavaScript, and various Design Patterns. Working and implementing a SPA (Single Page Application) using Angular, CSS, HTML, JavaScript. Writing queries, stored procedures and modifications to existing database structure as required per addition of new features using Oracle, Postgres. Using JUnit and Easymock for writing JUnit test cases for the code implemented in service layer. Using MongoDB as backend to access and update information in the database mapping Objects with respective tables. Implemented Cloud based solutions using AWS. Telecommuting permitted.

Minimum requirements: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field plus 4 years of experience in a software engineering role. Alternatively, will accept a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field plus 6 years of experience in a software engineering role.

Must have: 4 years of experience with writing HTTP services in high-level languages such as Java/Spring or Go. 4 years of experience designing, developing, building, analyzing, and maintaining web and front-end applications using Java/J2EE, Hibernate/JPA, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, OAuth, JWT, CSS, AWS, JavaScript, and Microservices. 4 years of experience writing Unit Test cases to validate individual and unit components to ensure functional integrity and higher code coverage. 2 years of experience with relational and document databases such as PostgreSQL or Cassandra. 2 years of experience with modern Javascript frameworks such as Angular. Demonstrated solid foundation in object-oriented and cloud native design. Demonstrated familiarity with Git. Proven ability to integrate web applications for further payload and implement authentication and authorization mechanisms using Microservices, OAuth and JWT. Proven ability to containerize Microservices and orchestrate Docker containers using Kubernetes.
