Job Responsibilities:
About the Role
Magna New Mobility is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to oversee the development of our core software product. As a Lead Software Engineer with cloud experience, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the server-side components of our applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our systems are scalable, reliable, and secure. Your expertise in cloud platforms will be crucial in optimizing our infrastructure and deploying solutions that leverage cloud-native features. This role will be onsite 3 days per week in our Lowell, MA office. #LI-Hybrid
Your Responsibilities

  • Design & Development: Develop robust, scalable, and high-performance backend systems and APIs. Design and implement server-side logic and integrate with front-end components.
  • Cloud Integration: Leverage cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) to deploy, manage, and scale applications. Implement cloud-based solutions for storage, computing, and networking.
  • Database Management: Design and maintain databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and performance. Work with both SQL and NoSQL databases as needed.
  • Security: Implement and maintain security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and data protection.
  • Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks. Monitor application performance and implement improvements as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work with product managers, front-end developers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions. Participate in code reviews and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to backend systems and cloud infrastructure. Provide support for production environments and ensure high availability


Who we are looking for

  • 10+ years of experience in backend development with a strong focus on cloud technologies.
  • Bachelor's degree or Equivalent Experience in computer science, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical field.
  • Experience with Microservices: Knowledge and experience with microservices architecture.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Go lang, Python, Node.js, C/C++ or Java. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and related services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, S3, CloudFormation). Fundamental understanding on distributed systems.
  • Database Knowledge: Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra).
  • API Development: Experience in designing and building gRPC, RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL.
  • DevOps: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).
  • Security Best Practices: Understanding of security principles and best practices in cloud environments.


Your preferred qualifications

  • Prior experience working in a start-up environment or product development from scratch will be a plus.
  • Master's degree is a plus.
  • Certifications: Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate) are a plus.
