We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Scrum Master to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Agile methodologies and a proven track record of leading Scrum teams to success.
The Opportunity
You have the opportunity to be a key figure in the growth and transformation of the Software Engineering team within the Digital Innovation (DI) department of Cencora Pharmalex and to be part of realising that future state. We're looking for an experienced Lead Scrum Master / Agile Delivery Lead to support our teams in continuing to deliver innovative and impactful solutions for our business.
You'll play a key role in developing team dynamics, bringing Agile to life, introducing and maintaining good Agile principles and fostering a wider Agile culture across the organisation.

Purpose
The purpose of this role is to own all the Agile process and ceremonies that support the Cencora Pharmalex software development process, coach the development team on good Agile practices and support the teams in analysing and adapting to continuously improve our software delivery processes. This position will require supporting the growth of both internal and 3rd party teams with a common approach, understanding and purpose. This position also requires strong interpersonal, management and communication skills as well as a good understanding of software development processes and how pervasive Agile ways of working improve business outcomes.
Key Activities
- Agile Culture:
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and lifelong learning in the Cencora Pharmalex Digital Innovation organisation in general and the Scrum teams in particular.
- Define, publish, maintain and evangelise Agile standards and ways of working.
- Create an environment of continuous improvement from all Agile teams through metrics and self-reflection of how to improve team performance, sprint by sprint.
- Introduce and grow a meaningful Agile community of practice.
- Advocate for and manage a step change in risk, issue and dependency management.
- Advocate transparency of work through succinct, high-quality communications to all stakeholder groups including the scrum teams themselves.
- Agile Teams:
- Support teams to improve at the ceremonial basics; sprint planning, demos and reviews, retrospectives, refinement, stand-ups.
- Ensure defined Agile standards are followed and a consistent approach to delivery can be seen across all teams irrespective of whether these teams are internal or 3rd party.
- Embed a '3 Amigos' way of working in teams, facilitating negotiations between development teams and product management to ensure sprint goals are both achievable and achieved.
- Coach all members of the development teams on good Agile practices.
- Introduce a 'train the trainer' approach to coaching, focusing on improving the skillset of the Scrum Masters.
- Ensure that development activities take place in accordance with Cencora Pharmalex SDLC SOPs.
- 'Own' the improvement of on-time delivery of sprints to the definition of done.
- Agile Leadership:
- 'Own' the delivery of solutions from the scrum teams through a constant focus on business value and consistent, predictable delivery.
- 'Own' the continuous improvement of team performance through outcome metrics such as velocity, sprint completion, quality & burndowns.
- Ensure focus is on the high quality, timely delivery of releases that are underpinned by business outcomes.
- Widen the reach of Agile understanding through advocacy groups, 'lunch and learns' and coaching and training of key stakeholders.
- Look to introduce a multiteam delivery approach through cadence, quarterly planning events and aligned goals.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
We're keen to talk to people with the following skills and experience:
- Deep understanding and knowledge of Agile Scrum methodology and usage of Jira.
- Worked within Agile teams as Scrum Master or, even better, Agile Delivery Lead across multiple teams for at least 5 years.
- Agile delivery through multi-disciplinary teams in a CI/CD environment.
- Working with and supporting the major roles and functions of Agile development teams.
- Working with and getting the best out of 3rd party suppliers and partners.
- Working with multiple and multi-disciplined stakeholders.
- Can explain and apply the fundamentals of Agile, DevOps, iterative software development and incremental delivery to both the new, the initiated and even the experienced.
- Excellent communication skills.
The following skills would be a bonus:
- Working knowledge of other Agile/lean methodologies such as Kanban or Agile at scale (e.g. SAFe).
- Formal Agile certifications and training.
- Good knowledge of Jira, Confluence and Excel.
- Experience of working with senior leadership within organisations.
