ABOUT THE JOB
We are seeking motivated Lead QA Engineer (Automation) to be part of our delivery team and will be responsible for providing technical leadership throughout all phases of the software delivery life cycle with a focus on end to end quality practices. Provide a unified user experience across the C&IB credit value chain, to manage credit submissions, spread financials, manage covenants & documents and have access to reporting & dashboards through a single user interface, aligned to NAB’s One Way Same Way approach.
YOUR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical
-
Manage the quality practices and mindset across two or more Agile teams, dealing with both automation and exploratory testing in terms of quality assurance;

Propose Test strategies for projects, and conduct workshops with internal & external stakeholders;
-
Apply and adjust testing processes to ensure quality in a fully Agile SDLC;
-
Define Test Plans (Test strategy and Test logistics) and applying Testing methodologies and techniques to design test cases and prepare test data;
-
Create test strategy and approach, setting-up testing tools and testing frameworks that can be used inside teams or cross-teams;
-
Apply Test monitoring and controls, including managing test effort and bug leaks;
-
Perform Test evaluation and make quality reports for each delivery (making the decision “go”/”no-go”);

Drive an Automation first approach for Unit, System and Integrated System testing across the development team, and contribute to platform integration and performance tests to play a key role in driving product quality to keep users satisfied;

Solve defects, driving investigations into problems and correction actions relating to recurring problems;

Code automated tests for the Feature, System and Integrated Systems Testing Phases;

Problem-solving, solution design automation and innovating using Quality Engineering practices;

Contribute to Agile practices and Automation for stories in sprint delivery, CI/CD pipeline design, and build and maintenance, to support Quality Engineering practices;

Create and review solution documentation and assist with the development and rectification when required;

Conduct testing training to empower Software Engineers to a level of sufficient testing skills.
Leadership

Maintains and increases motivation within team by regularly checking in on motivation levels, and making adjustments quickly where needed (e.g. QCI, team meeting, team engagement activity).

Communicates a clear, consistent vision (e.g. using Message Layering) to the team that creates shared purpose, and aligns plans and actions to the organisation’s strategic ambition.

Sets effective and meaningful goals and timelines for each team member that supports them to achieve beyond what is expected (e.g. align with Peak performance framework).

Assists Engineering Manager/ Development Manager with applying sound commercial judgement and risk management principals to identify opportunities for the team to create value for customers and colleagues.

Provides input to Engineering Manager/ Development Manager in making decision of Prioritising and making trade-offs between current and future performance to balance immediate goals with longer-term growth for the team.

Assists Engineering Manager/ Development Manager in ensuring resources (hire and allocate right people for right work, review and assess performance for direct reports aligning with performance policy, team engagement & development budget management, resource planning, etc.) to achieve optimum outcomes.

Actively nurtures existing talent and proactively brings in new/diverse talent and capabilities to their team to deliver on the strategic ambition and future needs of the business unit (e.g. IDP for team members).

Solves problems collaboratively by working to overcome barriers and break down silos that get in the way of outcomes.

Conveys results conversations from what we have achieved, to what we need to do more / better / different / less to enable future success

Supports the team to cut through complexity and create clarity by simplifying practices and processes.

Effectively briefs and debriefs team members to ensure they are clear on their strengths and gaps, including regularly recognising those doing well and sharing best practices across the team (e.g. NAB Recognition, Star of the year, NAB Honour).

Engages team in both individual and team development conversations (e.g. QCI, rounds), co-creating development opportunities to sustain motivation and retain top talent.

Leads others to leverage data, digital and new technology to evolve products and services, driving improvements for customers and colleagues.

Monitors team’s Clarity timesheet, Leave management, User account request on related systems.

Advises and be responsible for team’s Goals, QCI, Performance review and assessment, Individual Development Plan, Performance improvement, Contract assessment, Recognition & Rewards.

Be responsible for team engagement & relations
YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
-
Solid programming experience in Java and JavaScript / Typescript (Preferred) or any programing language
-
Jenkins CI/CD, GitHub, SonarQube, Gradle, JFrog
-
Exposure to AWS and cloud-native architecture
-
Excellent English communication skills (both verbal & written) with experience working across countries;
-
7+ years’ experience in the design and execution of Manual & Automation testing with a minimum of:
-
5+ years of hands-on experience in Automation – Web/Mobile & API testing.
-
3+ years of hands-on experience in leading & training Quality Engineering Practices across multiple teams.
-
People leadership and coaching of Quality Engineers from junior to senior QAs;
-
Able to create testing proposals (Test strategies, estimation, automation test solutions, performance test solution, etc.);
-
Good at reading and understanding of Functional and Non-functional requirements, and provide feedback and enrich requirements efficiently;
-
Solid knowledge of testing methodologies and techniques: Functional, Non-Functional, back-box and exploratory testing;
-
Experience in strategic development and implementation of Quality Engineering solutions (Automation Frameworks, Performance Validation);
-
Experience in coaching integrated teams including Software Engineers to ensure systems are designed for reliability, performance, and testability;
-
Expert in Automation; using with CI/CD methodologies and DevOps
