What you'll do
Working in a permanent feature team, you’ll be developing knowledge of aspects of the associated platform across the disciplines of business, applications, data and infrastructure. You’ll also be liaising with principal engineers, architects in the domain and other key stakeholders to understand how the platform works and how it supports business objectives.
In addition, you'll be responsible for all aspects of change, run and operational health of our platforms, including design architecture, build, test, implementation, risk, security, stability, resilience and life-cycling of the platform applications and services aligned to the business and technology vision.
Day-to-day, you'll:
- Own and create the platform technical road map with the right architecture, solutions and commercial value
- Apply Agile methods to the development of software on the backlog
- Have people management responsibilities of engineering teams onshore and offshore and support recruitment, management of talent and performance
- Deliver intentional architecture and formulate emergent design through innovative ideas, experimentation and prototyping
- Design and develop software with focus on the automation of build, test and deployment activities, using executable patterns
The skills you'll need
We’re looking for someone with strong experience of building and designing scalable and performant platforms with the ability to exploit programming languages to solve complex problems. You’ll also need to be capable of complex requirements analysis capture and validation against and with business and systems requirements.
You'll bring sound collaboration skills with the ability to work with business teams to produce pragmatic solutions that work for the business. We'll also look for strong stakeholder management and communication skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a simple way.
Additionally, you’ll demonstrate:
- Extensive experience in design, build and deployment of cloud native, microservices using Microsoft Azure tech stack, particularly AKS, serverless ASP, Function Apps and API management
- Solid experience with Azure Landing Zone (LZ) design and familiarity with Microsoft Enterprise Scale Architecture principles such as IAM, LZ governance, cost management, monitoring and policy-as-code approach
- Hands-on experience with Azure Networking and Security, such as Hub and Spoke, Frontdoor, Firewall, and Security tooling like Defender, Sentinel or similar
- Hands-on experience of IaC, and technologies such as Azure DevOps, PowerShell, Azure Bicep, ARM or Terraform, and NoSQL database
- Experience with Microsoft 365, device management or end point manager, and cloud best practices across platform and security
