We are searching for a dynamic, forward-thinking Lead, Responsible AI. This role requires a strong blend of technical proficiency, strategic planning, and a deep-rooted commitment to the ethical application of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.

Your Team 

As a Lead, Responsible AI in the Global Responsible AI Team, you will join a team of change agents who specialize in ensuring that AI is designed, developed, procured and used in a manner that aligns with Prudential’s core values and operating principles.  You will partner with data scientists, product owners, tech and business leads, designers, engineers, delivery professionals and cross functional governance teams to integrate, streamline, and operationalize Responsible AI practices throughout the enterprise. Responsible AI is responsible for establishing and providing a centralized and comprehensive source of truth for AI initiatives to enable visibility, accountability, and reusability throughout the AI Product development and usage lifecycle. The program, processes, technology and tools are intended to enable a common firm-wide AI governance standard that propels safe and scaled adoption of AI innovation while ensuring principal adherence domestic and international legal, ethical and regulatory requirements.  The organization provides solutions and advice for AI initiatives by registering, risk assessing, testing and monitoring AI Product use cases prior to deploying to production for business reliance.

This role is based in our office in Newark, NJ. Our organization follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely and from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. This position is hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring weekly basis at least 3 days per week.

Here is what you can expect on a typical day

  • Work with business partners, cross-functional governance peers, Data science leaders, project teams, and business and functional leaders to gather and understand business requirements that support the development of business-impact-driven AI initiatives and projects and ensuring AI Products have appropriate controls in place based on the risk levels it presents to the enterprise.  -
  • Act as the Secretary of the Global AI Oversight Council (GAIOC), organizing and/or facilitating the meetings, preparing agendas, and ensuring effective communication among members.
  • Coordinate with business partners to review and evaluate high-risk AI use cases which are going to be presented at GAIOC, in line with Responsible AI principles and policy.
  • Maintain documentation related to Responsible AI control expectations and standard guardrails, including policies, procedures, and guidelines across the RAI Technology and Tools Ecosystem.
  • Monitor compliance with AI Product Policy and Standard and identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain centralized and integrated reporting of AI Product Usage across the enterprise, including Policy compliance monitoring, reporting and escalations.
  • Provide guidance and support to teams on Responsible AI issues and governance matters.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote Responsible AI initiatives and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Promote AI Product reusability and transparency of enterprise inventories to maximize enterprise AI investments
  • Serve as day-to-day Responsible AI program build-out owner and oversee program maturity roadmaps and report on measurable OKR's, milestones, and deliverables that are delivered on-time, in budget, and with high quality outcomes.
  • Demonstrates expertise in an owned Responsible AI Capability and serve as an evangelist for enterprise deployment and adoption following established communication and PR strategies for Responsible AI that tell compelling stories that generate advocacy for safe and scaled adoption of AI across the enterprise.
  • Actively contribute to the Responsible AI governance workflow and outcome analysis that contributes to ongoing improvement in AIP control expectations, deliverables, and governance process automation opportunities (thruput, tech enhancements, resource reallocation post automation, etc.) and adoption, as well as support the continual improvement of Responsible AI adoption strategies
  • Develop and deliver relevant and appropriate training materials and practices that can be delivered enterprise wide
  • Exercises independent judgment in developing new methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for cross -functional evaluation of AI Products, while maintaining a self-starting and dynamic learning mindset that integrates an outside-in perspective for keeping the program nimble.

  • Bring a strong understanding of relevant and emerging technologies, provide input, be a self-starter s and embed learning and innovation in the day-to-day  
  • Bachelor's degree or experience in related fields 
  • Ability to coach others with minimal guidance and effectively leverage diverse ideas, experiences, thoughts and perspectives to the benefit of the organization  
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Knowledge of business concepts, tools and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business 
  • Ability to learn new skills and knowledge on an on-going basis through self-initiative and tackling challenges 
  • Excellent problem solving, communication and collaboration skills 

Significant experience and/or deep expertise with several of the following: 

  • Strong written and verbal communication to communicate sophisticated messages and new concepts. 
  • Strong emotional intelligence and organizational awareness with ability to challenge organizational norms and influence decisions without formal authority. The candidate will help influence the organization using effective communication including active listening, coaching, consultation and collaboration. 
  • Flexibility and ability to work in ambiguous situations as well as experience with large-scale software delivery and/or Agile transformation at scale in large enterprise organizations will be critical to success.

What we offer you:Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $118,700.00 to $176,600.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
