Survios is searching for a talented Lead Game Designer to work on flatscreen and VR games. We are looking for an individual who is a good communicator, a motivating force, and inspires designers to create world-class games. To succeed, you must help create and execute a game design plan, have excellent design as well as technical design chops, and guide and mentor the design team. You will also lead by example by directly contributing to game design, implementation, and tuning.
Responsibilities:
- Lead an interdisciplinary design team that includes gameplay, combat, level, and narrative designers.
- Work closely with project leadership to ensure the product vision is realized in the game.
- Work with Production to create, maintain, and execute a development plan to deliver all design elements on time and within budget.
- Directly contribute to design and implementation, as necessary.
- Execute internal/external playtests, gather data and feedback, and translate it into actionable tasks to improve the game.
- Create and enforce appropriate design direction, quality, and performance standards for all design elements within the project.
- Mentor designers and review their work, with an eye towards balancing quality and productivity.
- Daily communication with all disciplines to ensure the designers remain in alignment with the project's goals.
- Create, update, and organize design documentation.
Requirements:
- 5+ years as a game designer, including time in leadership roles.
- 1+ shipped titles as the Lead Game Designer.
- 2+ shipped titles on console, PC, or VR.
- 2+ years experience designing first-person games.
- 2+ years of experience in Unreal Engine 4 or 5.
- Expert understanding of game design principles and practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Effective collaborator with contributors, leads, and producers from all disciplines.
- Flexible and adaptable to new tools, environments, and unexpected challenges.
Pluses:
- Experience with iterative development, JIRA, Perforce, etc.
- Experience developing VR/AR games.

Base salary range between $150,000 USD - $170,000 USD (Base salary range for applicants located within the United States)
