What you’ll do:

• Delivery - help develop innovative and robust intensification strategies for protein purification. Perform data trending and manufacturing cost analysis to benchmark process intensification strategies. Collaborate with relevant collaborators to define the requirements for coordinated protein purification in a manufacturing setting and build the development plan. Develop procedures to ensure equipment and unit operations are compatible with integration and automation. Define the strategy for the monitoring and control of coordinated protein purification. Establish coordinated purification process at lab-scale in collaboration with automation and digitalization specialists. Independently design studies, collate, evaluate/analyse and interpret complex data sets to achieve project targets. Develop and implement comprehensive study plans with designated timelines. Author technical reports and publications with scientifically supported conclusions and recommendations.

• Work Practices - Maintain accurate and timely records to appropriate quality standards for self and team, preparing high-quality technical analyses and reports for internal or external use. Support team resource planning, project management activities, and prioritisation decisions. Adhere to good laboratory practices and support housekeeping and maintenance activity. Maintain documentation describing configurations and setup of coordinated process, process flow sheets, and cost models.

What we’re looking for

• Knowledge of downstream unit operations (separation basics, mass balance).

• Knowledge of bioprocess equipment, sophisticated automation, and controls at lab scale.

• Demonstrated expertise in configuring lab scale equipment for coordinated downstream processing.

• Hands-on experience in setup, execution, and troubleshooting of downstream process intensification experiments using AKTA or appropriate filtration (Depth, UF/DF) setup.

• Compile data, perform data analysis, and conclude observations (e.g., data trending, chromatogram traces, MVDA, etc.).

• Proficiency in using tools vital for data extraction, compilation, analysis, and presentation.

• Education - Degree (required) BSc or BEng Field of Study Biotechnology, Chemistry OR Chemical Engineering Degree (preferred) MSc OR MEng PhD OR Eng Field of Study Biotechnology, Chemistry OR Chemical Engineering.
