The Digital Modernization Sector is excited to offer a Lead DevSecOps Engineer opportunity in El Segundo, CA, supporting the US Space Force’s Space Systems Command (SSC). This critical role focuses on developing and deploying mission-critical software for space defense, space domain awareness, and data services. The position is primarily tactical, with 80% hands-on engineering and 20% product/team leadership, orchestrating the direction provided by the Chief of Platform Operations.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead software development teams in the implementation of DevSecOps practices, fostering collaboration and communication across teams for efficient delivery and operational excellence.
- Leverage Kubernetes technology to deploy, install, upgrade, patch, and maintain resilient, reliable solutions for developing, testing, securing, and shipping software applications to production.
- Embrace a customer-first approach, striving to exceed service level agreements, user specifications, and parameters set by CI/CD pipeline users, administrators, and software development teams. Actively engage in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, backlog grooming, and performance metric tracking to ensure continuous delivery of high-quality products.
- Manage the full lifecycle of software development and deployment tools, assisting in the reduction of operational toil involved in developing, building, testing, securing, and shipping applications.
- Automate infrastructure, workflows, and testing processes to improve development and operational productivity while maintaining high security standards.
- Use scripting and programming languages to build and test code continuously, deploying applications via automation and configuration management tools. Measure performance using logging tools to ensure application health.
- Ensure the security and configuration of containerized services using Kubernetes, optimizing performance and identifying issues through monitoring and alerting dashboards. Ensure Kubernetes environments are properly patched, configured, and scalable.
- Apply an “everything as code” mentality to configure, deploy, and manage all enterprise tools and services supporting 36 software applications across various classification levels (IL4, IL6, etc.) in test, staging, and production environments.
- Serve as a thought leader, driving the strategy for successful program delivery by defining objectives, aligning resources, and fostering collaboration across teams to ensure impactful outcomes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the customer, understanding their requirements and aligning program objectives to exceed expectations and deliver exceptional results.
Basic Qualifications:
- Requires Masters and 15+ years of prior relevant experience or Doctorate with 13+ years of prior relevant experience, additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
- Candidates must possess at least one of the following certifications, Cloud Solutions Architect Expert, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), or Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) (or an equivalent certification)
- Experience deploying and managing microservices using container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in using automated tools to test, configure, and deploy cloud-native applications into production environments.
- Familiarity with monitoring and analyzing system, network, and infrastructure performance data to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Understanding of observability best practices, key system metrics, and implementing monitoring solutions.
- Experience delivering container orchestration solutions and leveraging the full value of container technologies, while applying IaC principles across development, test, and production environments.
- Hands-on experience with Linux shell scripting and network commands for troubleshooting and automation.
- Experience automating system tasks and infrastructure provisioning using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).
- Experience in monitoring and observability tools, including Prometheus and Grafana, with a strong background in incident management and response.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform and CloudFormation, for automating cloud deployments
- Familiarity with Agile project management tools, such as Confluence and JIRA, for collaboration and workflow tracking.
- US Citizen and an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility (TS/SCI)
- Certification: Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher certification (e.g., Security+).

Pay Range:Pay Range $148,850.00 - $269,075.00
