SimCorp is experiencing a substantial increase in business globally and to support our growth we are looking for a Database Administrator in Europe. In this key role you will support our suite of Database products, and liaise with all our development and operations teams across the world to optimize their performance to support our client requirements.

What you will be responsible for:

The Database Administrator role would part of a small dedicated DBA team within the Analytics business at Simcorp, overseeing the support and performance of a varied database technology landscape including Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL and Snowflake.

In practice this role would entail:

  • Install, configure, and operate MSSQL database systems, including a familiarity with Always On and failover configurations

  • Monitor and optimize performance, including query performance analysis and tuning, working in collaboration with development teams providing recommendations to optimise performance

  • Design and implement backup, recovery, and security strategies

  • Proficiency in database programming languages (SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL), as well as SQL Server DacPac deployments

  • Experience with other database technologies (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake)

  • Ability to script and automate routine procedures, with appropriate error handling and alerting

What we value: 

  • A degree in computer science/engineering discipline.

  • 3+ years of experience with Database Administration, including query performance tuning

  • Knowledge of database performance monitoring and tuning tools

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator, MCSA: SQL Server, MCSE: Data Management and Analytics, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle OCA)

  • Experience with cloud hosted PaaS database solutions, particularly on Microsoft Azure

  • Scripting skills to automate tasks, such as with Python, Bash or PowerShell

  • Good communication, teamworking & organization skills

  • You have excellent analytical skills and are used to working in a structured way
