The Pricing Data Science team creates efficient marketplaces by determining an optimal price that is both sustainable and loved by our partners and consumers.

Get to know the role

We are looking for a Lead Data Scientist to build self-optimizing pricing products that can automatically adjust booking/order fares in response to the dynamic and ever-changing market conditions to achieve predetermined goals. This role is reporting into the Head of Data Science (Pricing) and is based onsite in Singapore.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

  • Translate the complex business problem into a Machine Learning or Optimisation model.
  • Identify and retrieve the relevant data for the explorative analysis, feasibility study and solution prototyping.
  • Build self-optimising pricing products that can automatically adjust booking/order fares in response to the dynamic and ever-changing market conditions to achieve predetermined goals.
  • Establish pipelines to automate the model parameter tuning and model serving in a scalable way.
  • Participate in the code and design review to maintain high development standards, build the dashboard to keep monitoring the health of DS solutions, and maintain and improve the solutions.
  • Create technical documents outlining the methodologies and findings, and present solutions to business stakeholders in a clear, non-technical manner.
  • Take charge of project management, collaborate closely with the Engineer teams to deploy the machine learning models in a production environment, ensuring their smooth integration into the system.
  • Communicate and collaborate with country teams to implement and roll out the pricing strategies effectively. This involves coordinating efforts, addressing any concerns or challenges, and ensuring consistent execution across different markets.

Qualifications

What Skills You Will Need

  • PhD Degree in computer science, operation research, mathematics, statistics, economy, physics, software engineering or related fields
  • 3+ years of experience in two or more of the following areas: reinforcement learning, control thoery, causal inference, optimisation and deep learning.
  • Experience translating complex business problems into mathematical formulations.
  • Proficiency in Python, Tensorflow, Pytorch, SQL, Spark. Experience in writing efficient sql query and readable, maintainable and testable codes.
  • Develop and improve data processing ETL pipelines to efficiently support data analysis, model training and model serving works
  • Experience developing production quality Pipelines to automate the model tuning and deployment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to autonomously explore new ideas and learn new skills to accomplish tasks is a crucial attribute we seek in potential candidates.

The Nice-to-Haves

  • Academic research experience in Operations Research, Reinforcement Learning and Causal inference.
  • Candidates with expertise in streaming data using frameworks like Apache Flink will have an added advantage.
  • Experience with distributed systems and cloud services such as AWS, GCP, and Azure is highly valued.
  • Candidates who have made contributions to open source projects will be awarded bonus points during the evaluation process.
  • Familiarity working with VCS such as git, git-flow, understanding of full software development life-cycle
