About the role:
Nintex is seeking a hands-on, self-directed Senior Data Engineer – Platform & Enablement to build and own the systems that power decision-making across the organization. This is not a highly segmented, narrowly defined role—we’re looking for someone who thrives in ambiguity, independently drives projects forward, and builds reliable, scalable pipelines from scratch.
In this role, you’ll partner closely with stakeholders to define needs, build robust data solutions in Microsoft Azure and Databricks, and design a future-proof data architecture that balances performance, flexibility, and compliance. You’ll also take the lead on integrating with APIs and third-party platforms to ensure that the data landscape reflects the reality of the business in near real-time.
This position is ideal for someone who operates like an architect and a builder: someone who’s excited to take ownership, proactively identify opportunities, and influence business decisions through technical execution.
Your contribution will be:
- Own the architecture, development, and maintenance of Nintex’s Product data infrastructure, primarily in Azure and Databricks.
- Gather requirements directly from business stakeholders and translate them into actionable data products and pipelines.
- Build and manage end-to-end ETL/ELT processes with a focus on automation, observability, and reusability.
- Ingest data from APIs and third-party platforms using tools like Fivetran or custom Python-based solutions.
- Design clean, scalable, and efficient data models and schemas for analytics and reporting use cases.
- Collaborate with business users to prototype and iterate on dashboards and reports; bring clarity to data chaos.
- Define and implement best practices around data quality, governance, access control, and compliance.
- Identify opportunities for optimization and automation within our existing data systems and operations.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement through documentation, mentorship, and experimentation.
The Job Description is intended to be a general representation of the responsibilities and requirements of the job. However, the description may not be all-inclusive, and responsibilities and requirements are subject to change.
To be successful, we think you need:
- 7+ years of experience managing data architectures and building pipelines in cloud environments (Azure preferred).
- Strong business acumen; you understand why the data matters and how it drives decisions.
- Deep expertise in Azure Databricks, Python, PySpark, and SQL; you’ve built pipelines from scratch, not just maintained them.
- Proven ability to integrate, transform, and model data from APIs and SaaS platforms using tools like Fivetran or custom solutions.
- Experience working with data from Google Analytics, Salesforce, Asana, Outreach, or similar sources.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Operates independently and thrives in ambiguity; owns problems end-to-end with minimal oversight.
- Familiarity with version control systems.
- The drive to learn and aptitude to master new technologies and techniques
- Humility, Kindness, and Curiosity
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with data governance, security protocols, and compliance standards like GDPR
- Experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau and building datasets for analysis.
- Understanding machine learning workflows and familiarity with tools like MLflow or Databricks ML for more advanced data initiatives.
- Knowledge of data cataloging tools to improve data discovery, data lineage, and metadata management across the organization.
- Skilled at advocating for data best practices and influencing stakeholders to adopt data-driven approaches.
