At Monument, we’re building a vertical software platform for the self-storage industry. This is a rare opportunity to reinvent a $30 billion market from the ground up.
As Lead Data Engineer, you will be responsible for shaping Monument’s data architecture and analytics capabilities. You will work closely with the Head of Engineering to design, implement, and maintain robust data systems that drive powerful analytics capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with the Head of Engineering to design and maintain scalable, reliable, and efficient data pipelines and database systems.
- Collaborate with engineering leads to design database schema changes and additions, ensuring data integrity, scalability, and adherence to industry best practices. Provide the final approval on all database schema changes.
- Responsible for ensuring database schema changes are successfully applied to production environments without impacting application up-time.
- Develop data models to power visualizations, dashboards, and reports.
- Design, implement, and maintain end-to-end data pipelines to efficiently extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from diverse sources.
- Build, optimize, and maintain ETL pipelines to ensure seamless integration of data from competitor software during onboarding.
- Diagnose and resolve complex data-related issues, both during onboarding and in ongoing operations.
- Develop internal tools to monitor data quality and improve the accuracy and reliability of Monument’s analytics capabilities.
Who You Are
- Data Engineer with a strong emphasis on SQL.
- 5+ years of RDBMS and ETL experience.
- Deep expertise in MySQL or other relational database management systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, or similar).
- Proven track record of working with large-scale data systems, including the generation and consumption of flat files (CSV, TSV etc.).
- Significant experience migrating data between databases and applications.
- Proficiency in 1 or more programming or scripting language (Typescript, JavaScript, Python or similar).
- Experience with AWS RDS/Aurora and S3.
