Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, development planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction to help shape the future space missions across the national security space (NSS) enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including US Space Force, U.S Space Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of services and support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers but also horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation. DSG also assists the Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) in the conception, design, acquisition, launch and operations of satellite, launch vehicle, ground control, and range systems.
The Launch Systems, Operations, and Development (LSOD) team within the Launch Systems Division is seeking a well-qualified individual with demonstrated leadership and exceptional communication abilities to coordinate the continuous configuration evaluation of the Falcon Launch System. The LSOD Systems Engineer will coordinate and maintain support for the evaluation of the Falcon launch vehicle design, operational capabilities, and mission assurance to ensure it meets the government evaluation criteria for non-recurring design validation and recurring verification. Responsibilities also include assessing systems engineering capabilities in support of New Glenn certification.
Work Model
This is a full-time position based in El Segundo, CA offering an on-site work model that combines regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow.
What You'll Be Doing

  • Track and verify launch vehicle configuration Changes, Issues and Risks
  • Work closely with the Falcon Chief Engineer and Assured Access Falcon Launch Directorate to maintain the technical baseline
  • Coordinate and maintain support for the evaluation of the Falcon Launch System design, operational capabilities, and mission assurance
  • Ensure Falcon Launch System meets the government evaluation criteria for non-recurring design validation and recurring verification
  • Ensure the Falcon Launch System interface and vehicle requirements and documentation are compliant with EELV program top-level requirements
  • Work closely with the New Glenn Chief Engineer to evaluate systems engineering management plans and support the development of digital engineering environments


What You Need to be Successful - Project Engineer, Systems and Mission Assurance Engineering
Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S. in Engineering, Physical Science, or related technical field
  • 8 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including experience in a systems engineering and/or program management environment
  • Experience in working with variety of engineering disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with numerous internal and external organizations
  • A current Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain/maintain a Secret Clearance, which is issued by the U.S. Government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance


In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for Senior Project Engineer, Systems and MIssion Assurance Engineering include:

  • 12 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including experience in a systems engineering and/or program management environment
  • Experience with reliability analysis and risk management


How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Experience applying SMC-S-001 Systems Engineering and SMC-S-002 Change Management
  • Proficiency in using the Jira and Confluence issue and project tracking software
  • Familiarity with Standard Interface Specification and Systems Performance Requirement Document requirements as well as SMC (NSSL) standards related to launch vehicle and spacecraft environments
  • Working knowledge of the mission assurance process and ability to technically coordinate that through multiple disciplines

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
