Landfill Gas Operations Manager
Location: Oakdale, Louisiana
At Waste Connections, the Landfill Gas Operations Manager plays a vital role in managing and optimizing landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS). This role is critical in ensuring compliance, operational efficiency, and environmental stewardship while supporting a High BTU landfill gas plant. The Landfill Gas Operations Manager will lead a team of technicians and contractors while working closely with engineering and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS) to optimize system performance and ensure compliance.
• Supervise and direct technicians and contractors, ensuring efficient work delegation and training.
• Maintain and operate Elkins Envision Gas Analyzer and Landtec GEM Gas Analyzer for accurate gas monitoring.
• Implement and manage the GCCS preventative maintenance plan to ensure system reliability.
• Operate and maintain liquid management system pneumatic or electric-driven pumps, troubleshoot liquid levels, and manage LFG collection wells.
• Perform wellfield valve/vacuum adjustments, interpret data, and make necessary modifications to optimize landfill gas recovery.
• Perform routine maintenance on piping systems using PVC or HDPE materials.
• Troubleshoot GCCS mechanical, electrical, and software systems to identify and resolve issues promptly.
• Assist with the preparation of state and local reports related to landfill gas operations.
• Participate in the development of capital and expense budgets for landfill gas operations.
• Monitor environmental compliance requirements, ensuring all GCCS systems adhere to regulatory standards.
• Provide project management support for GCCS design and construction initiatives.
• Be available for on-call response to GCCS-related malfunction events.
Qualifications:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 5 years of landfill gas collection and control system (GCCS) operations experience.
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize gas system performance.
• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel/Word and the ability to learn specialized company applications.
• Ability to analyze and interpret data from gas analyzers and monitoring devices.
• Willingness to relocate for promotional opportunities within Waste Connections.
