Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and innovative leader to establish, grow, and lead a Knowledge Management (KM) function within our Engineering division. This role will play a pivotal part in creating a unified strategy for capturing, managing, and deploying knowledge assets to enhance engineering efficiency, customer experience, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will combine technical content expertise with knowledge management strategies, leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR), centralized document systems, and data management tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Knowledge Management Strategy:
· Develop and implement a comprehensive KM roadmap aligned with organizational goals.
· Build and maintain a centralized, scalable document/knowledge repository to manage engineering and customer-facing information assets.
Technical Content Development:
· Oversee the creation and maintenance of technical content, including manuals, training materials, troubleshooting guides, and multimedia resources (videos, animations, exploded images, AR/VR assets).
· Ensure content is accurate, engaging, and accessible, addressing internal (engineering teams) and external (customer) needs.
Leadership and Collaboration:
· Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, content strategists, technical writers, multimedia developers, and data specialists.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, customer support, and marketing, to align content with business and customer needs.
· Build and coordinate a KM community of practice to build a corporate knowledge base on KM and facilitate continuous improvement.
· Coach/mentor team and assist in developing internal KM champions
Data and Documentation Management:
· Develop a standardized approach to content creation and management (create a structured content once that enables reuse in multiple formats)
· Establish processes to maintain, monitor, and enhance master data (MDM) for parts and components, ensuring readiness for eCommerce and customer portals.
· Create and manage design specifications, architectural knowledge, and operational insights for internal teams.
Innovation and Emerging Technologies:
· Explore and implement emerging technologies like AR/VR to enhance training, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
· Leverage digital tools for external knowledge management, including interactive manuals and 3D models.
Performance Optimization:
· Use metrics, user feedback, and analytics to continuously improve KM processes, ensuring they meet industry best practices.
· Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and data security protocols.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; advanced certifications in Knowledge Management, Technical Communication, or Instructional Design preferred.
· 20+ years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within knowledge management, technical content development, or related fields.
· Expertise in content management systems, multimedia development tools, and data management.
· Familiarity with AR/VR, AI technologies, and 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks) is highly desirable.
· Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience managing cross-functional, multi-regional teams.
· Experience in ‘change management’ is an added advantage.
