ABOUT THE ROLE

Spellbook is at the forefront of the industry, and we're looking for a talented Junior Accountant to join us as we continue to grow. You will play a key role in our finance team, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial operations. You will be responsible for owning transactional accounting tasks, maintaining accurate financial data, and assisting in AP/AR processes.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own day-to-day transactional accounting tasks, including general bookkeeping and accurate posting of journal entries in QuickBooks.

  • Assist with the accounts payable process, including routing invoices for internal approval and ensuring timely payments.

  • Support the accounts receivable function by responding to client requests, assisting with vendor setups, and performing AR follow-ups.

  • Maintain accurate and timely recording of financial data, with a focus on weekly posting and categorization of transactions to support more frequent reporting.

  • Collaborate with the sales and customer success teams to assist with the invoicing process, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

  • Contribute to the month-end close process by preparing bank reconciliations and ensuring key financial statements are properly recorded and balanced.

  • Help maintain and improve data quality within the accounting system to support better insights and reporting.

  • Support with QuickBooks to streamline processes and move the team toward real-time accounting, reducing reliance on month-end bulk entries.

  • Perform recurring tasks with consistency and accuracy, bringing accounting knowledge and reliability to a fast-moving, detail-focused environment.

  • Support with other accounting and administrative tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • Working towards a CPA designation is a nice-to-have

  • 2+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices

  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
