Position Summary
The Staff Financial Analyst (Junior Accountant) will be responsible for performing fundamental accounting and financial analysis functions to support the financial operations. This role involves working with financial data, assisting in reconciliations, preparing reports, and ensuring accuracy in financial transactions. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to learn while demonstrating common sense, confidence in their skills, and a proactive approach to improving processes.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Functions
· Assist with general ledger maintenance, ensuring accurate and timely entries.
· Support accounts payable and receivable processing, including invoice verification and payment tracking.
· Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
· Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budget reports, and internal financial summaries.
· Support year-end closing activities, including account analysis and financial audits.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
· Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
· Assist in preparing financial models, forecasts, and cost analyses to support decision-making.
· Develop and maintain financial spreadsheets, reports, and dashboards.
· Conduct research to support budget planning and financial strategy.
Operational Support & Process Improvement
· Identify opportunities for process efficiency and recommend improvements in financial procedures.
· Assist in maintaining compliance with financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
· Collaborate with team members to improve reporting accuracy and financial workflows.
· Communicate effectively with internal departments regarding financial inquiries.
Key Qualifications & Skills
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
· Experience: 0-3 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial analysis (internships or entry-level roles acceptable). Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.
· Technical Skills:
o Basic proficiency in accounting principles and financial reporting.
o Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong focus on Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, advanced formulas), as well as proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or similar.
o Strong attention to detail and ability to work with numbers accurately.
