SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Thales designs state-of-the-art radar systems and optical sensors that form part of a complete and integrated defense system. The product portfolio ranges from small portable radars, for example, for border or object monitoring to complex four-dimensional radars that can detect small objects at hundreds to thousands of miles away.
Within the software department, the radar core processing department is responsible for the software development of the optimal control and the digital processing functions in the sensors. In this respect, multi-disciplinary teams work together with specialists in the field of system engineering, functional sensor design and design and realization of real-time systems.
About the job
Within this radar core processing department the complete radar software is developed. This includes various fields including the control of radar systems, the organization of radar transmissions and the processing of the digital information flow. The ultimate goal is to detect and classify specific objects, such as aircraft and drones, track them and display them on an operator console.
To test all these complex software systems, the SITE team develops various products ranging from high-end visualization applications, simulators, automatic calibration setups, web-based applications to high speed logging applications. As a software engineer you will work in a multidisciplinary and self-steering Agile development team that develops this test and control software for radar systems developed by Thales.
About you
Are you a software engineer with a drive for quality, an enthusiastic team player, open in your communication and do you feel responsible for the outcome of the team? Do you have extensive experience in developing high performance graphics (Java) applications? Then you might be the person we are looking for.
The prerequisite for this is a completed HBO or WO education in the field of (technical) informatics or computer science. In addition, you must have extensive experience with the following activities:
- Java/JVM
- UI Design Swing/Java FX
- Concurrency
- Visualisatie OpenGL/Video
- Webtechnologie
- A good knowledge of the Dutch and English language is necessary to be successful in this job.
