IT System Administrator

As an IT System Administrator, you contribute to computer efficiency. You design, configure, administer, maintain and upgrade computer networks, management systems and database servers based on the organization’s needs. You assist the IT management team and align with existing support teams. By working with IT teams, your role consists in supporting our business partner in managing application and terminal servers. You also manage virtual workstations in Azure. With your expertise, you support users’ virtual workstations and quantitative developer teams. You’re responsible for installing, configuring and supporting database management systems. You ensure the optimal use, security, integrity and maintenance of Desjardins Group’s various databases. You plan and prioritize work to keep commitments made to reach objectives. Your initiatives require extensive, in-depth knowledge of your line of work. You lead and serve as a subject matter expert with the IT development team for new developments and changes to the various databases. More specifically, you will be required to :

• Help produce and update documentation: Draft and update technical documents and procedures to ensure efficient management and operational continuity

• Manage external providers: Manage relationships with external service providers and communicate with them during incidents and system upgrades

• Manage Internet Information Services (IIS) servers: Install, configure, maintain and monitor IIS servers

• Ensure the availability and security of hosted web applications

• Manage SQL servers: Administer SQL databases, including backups, data recovery and collaboration with the development team to optimize performance and resolve problems

• Manage licences: Track and manage software licences to ensure compliance with licence agreements and avoid penalties; renew and update licences as needed

• Administer the Office 365 suite, including managing users, groups, permissions and services associated with Office suites

• Manage messaging: Administer electronic messaging systems, including account setup, quota management, email security and troubleshooting

• Manage email archiving: Implement and manage email archiving solutions to ensure email conservation, search and retrieval in compliance with the organization's policies

• Manage the arrival of new resources in the environment to be managed: Integrate new resources (hardware and software) into the existing infrastructure, including initial setup and user training

• Manage the Active Directory: Administer the Active Directory, including the creation and management of user accounts, groups, organizational units and security policies

• Manage users and groups: Create, edit and delete user accounts and groups in the computer systems, and assign permissions and manage accesses

• Manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs): Create and manage GPOs to control computer and user configurations and settings in a Windows environment

• Manage identities and accesses: Roll out and manage identity and access solutions to make sure users have the appropriate rights to access the resources they need

What you bring to the table

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field

• A minimum of six years of relevant experience in systems administration or infrastructure management

• Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

• Experience with Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2022, SQL, IIS, Office 365, Azure, Active Directory, network

• Knowledge of French is required   

• Intermediate knowledge of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
