IT Network Specialist

Location: Raanana

#LI-Hybrid

DriveNets, a leader in cloud-native networking software and network disaggregation solutions, offers communications service providers and cloud providers a radical new way to build networks and drive networks. By disrupting the fundamental scaling and economic characteristics of the Internet, DriveNets enables carriers to build networks like clouds.

The Role

DriveNets is seeking an experienced network engineer to design, document, deploy and operate our network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience with FortiGate firewalls, Cisco Wi-Fi and networking equipment, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and a range of network technologies, including routers and switches.

This individual should consistently act with empathy, always displaying a customer orientation. Execution is key, and the ability of this individual to take action on their own with little input or direction from leadership is key. The individual should have demonstrable, extensive experience designing and operating datacenter infrastructure, network, and compute.

The right individual for this role lives by an automation-first philosophy. If a problem or question occurs more than once, the right solve is not to perform the work twice, but to perform it once and automate it the second time. The person lives and breathes scale, and considers every ask and action in the context of how far this requirement will scale in the future. Finally, the individual does all of this securely, ensuring that DriveNets’ intellectual property and that of its customers always remains secure.

Responsibilities

  • Design, document, deploy and operate the DriveNets network
  • Work closely with the Lab team to drive automation into every aspect of datacenter and infrastructure management, creating a true self-service IaaS/CaaS offering for the company.
  • Evaluate, test, select, install and configure network hardware, such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Monitor network performance, system availability, and reliability using automated data-gathering, display, and alerting tools.
  • Provide an automated, self-service lab environment offering to support DriveNets software development and testing efforts.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network and security issues, including hardware and software problems.
  • Collaborate with other IT professionals to develop and implement network security measures.
  • Conduct regular network maintenance, including updating software and hardware.
  • Document network configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Mentor and lead other team members to drive increased and broad expertise within your focus areas.
  • Work closely with DriveNets CISO team to implement the security tools.

Requirements

  • Be kind.
  • Be able to mentor your coworkers (including direct reports, peers, and leaders).
  • Be able to give and receive feedback to/from any level in the organization.
  • Engage in respectful debate. The best solutions arrive when we discuss options openly, transparently, and in detail.
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent, provable experience).
  • Experience designing, building an operating a datacenter which relies on foundational *aaS principles
  • Heavy automation, low-touch, highly scalable
  • At least 5 years of design and operations experience with networks.
  • Experience with L2VPN, VXLAN or similar L2 topology virtualization technology at scale preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience developing in Python, Golang, shell scripts, C++ or similar languages to develop, enhance and deploy network automation systems.
  • Be detail-oriented and expect to be questioned. Your credibility and success as a network architect/engineer depend on your ability to speak to the fundamentals of the systems you own.
  • Be able to summarize and up-level your highly technical dialogue into a format that is digestible by minimally technical executive leadership.
  • Present your ideas/needs/challenges to various levels of DriveNets leadership, dynamically altering your style and language to meet the technical expertise of the attendees.
  • Incorporate disaster recovery scenarios and requirements into your designs and test them regularly.

Skills

  • Have a deep understanding of hyperscale/consumer webscale datacenter design principles and be able to apply them to everything from rack design to routing protocol and service configuration.
  • Deep proficiency in BGP, OSPF and/or IS-IS configuration and troubleshooting
  • Deep proficiency in VXLAN/L2VPN and other overlay topologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, identifying and prioritizing work on your own without external direction.
  • Deliver high-quality work when you say you will. If you can’t, you realign the expectations of your stakeholders well in advance of deadlines.
  • Hands-on experience with network infrastructure components such as routers and switches and FW.
  • Be hungry to learn and adapt. Incubate new skills and explore new technologies. Don’t remain static.

What We Do

DriveNets is a rapidly growing software company that has created a radical new way for service providers and hyperscalers to build their networking infrastructure. DriveNets Network Cloud and DriveNets Network Cloud-AI are new innovative networking solutions that apply the cloud architectural approach to high-scale networking. They bring together the scalability of standard Ethernet Clos architecture with the high performance and reliability of service provider networking, delivering optimal networking performance, scale and cost structure for service providers and hyperscalers.

Founded by Ido Susan and Hillel Kobrinsky, two successful telco entrepreneurs, DriveNets Network Cloud is the leading open disaggregated networking solution based on cloud-native software running over standard white boxes.

Over three funding rounds, DriveNets raised $587 million. Its solutions are used by tens of service providers globally and are in proof-of-concept and lab trials at dozens of operators and hyperscalers, consistently ranking #1 in trials for breadth of capabilities and solution quality. AT&T, the largest backbone in the US, deployed DriveNets Network Cloud across its core network, and DriveNets is currently transporting more than 52% of AT&T’s core network traffic. DriveNets is engaged with over 100 Tier-1 operators and cloud-providers on large projects in North America, Asia and Europe.
