Job Description: IT Level 2 Support Specialist (Hybrid) with Mineral Mining OT Experience

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced IT Level 2 Support Specialist with a strong background in Operational Technology (OT) systems in the mineral mining industry. This hybrid position combines onsite and remote responsibilities, requiring a professional capable of troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving IT and OT infrastructure to ensure seamless operations in a demanding industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide Level 2 support for IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, and network systems.

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize OT systems specific to mineral mining operations (e.g., SCADA, PLCs, DCS).

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address IT and OT integration challenges, ensuring reliable communication between enterprise and industrial systems.

• Monitor and manage network security, addressing vulnerabilities specific to OT environments.

• Perform regular maintenance, updates, and patches to IT and OT systems to ensure compliance and reduce downtime.

• Respond to and resolve tickets escalated from Level 1 support, ensuring timely and accurate resolutions.

• Assist in disaster recovery planning and implementation for IT/OT systems.

• Document processes, troubleshooting steps, and solutions to create a robust IT/OT operations knowledge base.

• Provide user training and support for OT and IT systems, ensuring effective utilization.

• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, particularly those related to industrial safety and data security.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years in IT support roles, with at least 2 years of experience in OT systems within the mineral mining industry.

• Hands-on experience with SCADA systems, PLC programming, and industrial control networks.

• Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux server environments.

• Proficiency in networking protocols and devices (e.g., TCP/IP, firewalls, switches, and routers).

• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC, Profibus).

• Experience with cybersecurity practices for OT environments.

• Knowledge of cloud platforms and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Azure).

• Soft Skills:

• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications: CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent.

• Familiarity with ERP systems used in the mining industry.

• Understanding of ISO 27001 and other IT/OT security standards.

Work Environment:

• Hybrid work schedule with remote support and onsite visits to mining locations.

• Flexibility to travel to remote sites as needed.

• Availability for on-call support in case of critical system issues.
