The IT and AV Support Specialist is a dual-role position responsible for providing technical expertise in both audio-visual production and IT support. This role ensures seamless AV operations for meetings, events, and conferences while also serving as the first point of contact for IT help desk support. The Specialist plays a critical role in enhancing user experiences by delivering high-quality AV solutions and resolving technical issues promptly and effectively.
This position will serve as the first person responsible for device setup, software troubleshooting, and network connectivity, as well as setting up and operating AV equipment, troubleshooting live event issues, and maintaining AV systems. The ideal candidate is a technically savvy, customer-focused professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys solving problems. By collaborating with event organizers, IT teams, and staff members, the Specialist ensures that technical needs are met across the team and that users have the tools and support necessary for success.
This role is critical to the every-day work of our team, and we will focus on providing every opportunity for learning and development possible. Aside from your primary responsibilities, expect to be able to work alongside and learn from architects doing cutting edge consulting work leveraging the Microsoft suite of solutions, as well as consultants with expertise that spans data analysis, AI, learning and development, strategy, operations, and more.
Our ideal Specialist will have at least a year of prior experience with a small- to medium-sized business. This is a full-time, in-person position located in Alexandria, VA.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first point of contact for IT support, assisting users with hardware, software, and network-related issues
- Set up and configure PC’s and mobile devices, including peripherals like printers and scanners
- Diagnose, document and escalate technical issues related to operating systems, productivity tools, and company applications
- Maintain logs of IT support request and solutions to track common issues and improve resolution times
- Prepare, set up, and maintain AV equipment for meetings, conferences, and events, including microphones, cameras, displays, and sound systems
- Provide on-site technical support during events, ensuring seamless audio and visual operation, troubleshooting any issues as they arise
- Operate recording equipment to capture presentations and events; edit audio and video files as needed
- Manage and maintain AV equipment inventory, ensuring availability and functionality for scheduled events
- Perform basic maintenance and coordinate service or upgrades for AV equipment
- Coordinate with event organizers to understand AV and IT requirements and ensure all technical aspects are accounted for
- Collaborate with the IT department to ensure proper network connections and trouble connectivity issues during events
- Provide basic training to staff and users on AV equipment and IT tools
- Develop and distribute user-friendly documentation for AV setup and IT troubleshooting processes
- Stay updated on the latest AV and IT technologies to recommend improvements
- Support the implementation of new AV and IT systems as directed by the management team

Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of IT infrastructure, including networking concepts (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi), and hardware troubleshooting for computers, peripherals, and mobile devices.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting operating systems (Windows, macOS) and productivity tools (Office 365).
- Proficiency with AV equipment, including microphones, cameras, and sound systems.
- Familiarity with AV editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or similar) and live streaming platforms (e.g., Zoom or Teams).
- Ability to diagnose and resolve AV and IT issues promptly, even under tight deadlines or during live events.
- Resourceful in identifying solutions using manuals, online resources, or vendor support.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Customer service-oriented mindset to work effectively with diverse teams and individuals.
- Excellent time management and attention to detail to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Capable of maintaining accurate inventory and service logs for AV and IT equipment.
- Team player with a collaborative approach to working across departments and assisting colleagues.
- Comfortable supporting users at all levels of technical proficiency.
- 1–2 years of experience in a similar role or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Audio-Visual Production, or related field (preferred but not required).
