Role Summary

Perform fundamental analysis of the Business Services sector to identify the key trends and the best-positioned companies. Conducts interviews of company personnel on all levels, their competitors, customers, etc., as well as industry experts and Wall Street analysts; and communicates recommendations within the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts primary research on companies and industry by researching, reading financial statements & market data, interviewing management team meetings, and visiting companies to gain a deep understanding companies within the sector.  This due diligence will help support an Analyst’s recommendations for buying/selling specific stocks.
  • Make recommendations to Portfolio Managers to buy/sell specific stocks that the Analyst feels will positively impact the performance of the portfolio.  This requires good judgment on the part of the Analyst and ability to manage a diverse coverage universe. 
  • Effectively prioritizes most attractive stocks in coverage universe and partners with Portfolio Manager to position clients appropriately.  This requires the Analyst to effectively articulate and demonstrate to Portfolio Manager the risk/reward payoff of the recommendation.
  • Effectively follows up with the Portfolio Manager once they have executed on a recommendation made by the Analyst.  This requires the Analyst to provide consistent feedback on all meaningful changes in the “story” of the stock to the Portfolio Manager to ensure they have adequate information to make future decisions on the stock.

Qualifications

Required:

  • At least 2-5 years of experience investing in Business Services or similar sectors.

Preferred:

  • Passion for investing
  • Proven record of success in professional and academic career
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skillset
  • Ability to hunt for and identify new investment ideas.
  • Strong communication abilities
  • Level of maturity and judgment which gives confidence in stressful situations.
  • Ability to leverage data and innovative primary research methods to generate differentiated insights.

FINRA Requirements

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

Base Salary Ranges

$175,000.00-$275,000.00 for the location of: Maryland, Colorado, Washington and remote workers
$175,000.00-$275,000.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C.
$175,000.00-$275,000.00 for the location of: New York, California

Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual’s relevant experience and skills for the roleBase salary is only one component of our total compensation packageEmployees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
