What will you do as an Internal Customer?

The Internal Customer is responsible for translating the terminal's operational, technical and safety requirements into new construction and maintenance projects. The successful incumbent  will form the link between Operations, Maintenance and Projects.

The Internal Customer will play a key role in establishing a streamlined collaboration between the operational service, the commercial department, the SHEQ department and the various project organizations and project managers. Further to this, the successful incumbent will represent the interests of the terminal and ensure the long-term operational life of the infrastructure.

What do we expect from you as an Internal Customer?

  • Bachelor’s degree or BTech. (Mechanical Engineering)  
  • Minimum of 7-10 years terminal experience (Maintenance, Operations and Technical) in the petroleum, petrochemical sector or associated industries
  • Experience working with customers in a business-to-business environment
  • Relevant work experience, solid knowledge of the Operational, SHEQ and Technical processes within Vopak or similar organization
  • Good knowledge of a terminal organization

What does your day look like?

  • You initiate projects aimed at the implementation of new service concepts and process and efficiency improvements at the terminal with the aim of further increasing the customer satisfaction and turnover, and the further reduction of operational costs.
  • You also provide support to the development and the execution of the terminal master plan. As part of this terminal master plan, you will play an active role in ensuring that the terminals remain aligned to best in class technology and practices while simultaneously delivering on risk mitigation

Your core responsibilities are:

  • Vopak Project Management role of Internal Customer for all terminal related projects e.g. Sustaining Capex and service improvements
  • Provide input on the Three Years Maintenance plan (Sustaining Capex program)
  • Support in determining the project prioritization,
  • Assure resources/input of the several teams that are needed in projects
  • Validate the applicability of projects and initiate improvements
  • Representing the legal and terminal requirements within projects in the field of customer requirements, operations and technology;
  • Monitor the correlation between projects and ensure efficiency
  • Supplying operational improvement proposals in the field of safety, customer satisfaction, efficiency and “future” legislation.
  • Operational point of contact during the commissioning phase in collaboration with Operations, engineering, maintenance, IT and project teams, Sales and SHEQ
  • Collaborating with various departments and stakeholders on relevant matters such as operating permits, best practices within Vopak, efficiency, customer friendliness, shut down planning and safety
  • Handling service requests from Sales Managers (both additions/deviations to existing contracts and new requests/customers).
  • Drafting project requests arising from service and/or operational improvements and/or ideas. Initiate these project initiations and represent the operational framework
  • Manage annual process of idea/problem collection from terminal staff using bottom up approaches and collect recommendations from Vopak processes(ORMs, audits, Hazop etc.) to maintain a pipeline of ideas delivering on service and safety ambition
  • Coordinating the project-related HAZOPs, including estimating the required budget and monitoring deadlines
  • Support of operational investigations resulting from Enablon reports, incidents, and improvement proposals.
  • Manage ad hoc interventions required in the Operations department fitting within the normal duties presented above.
  • Develop and manage small maintenance and plant changes projects.
