Internal Auditor

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Internal Auditor will assist with managing external assurance audits (HITRUST, SOC-1, and SOC-2+HIPAA) and conduct internal operational risk audits, ensuring adherence to regulatory and organizational compliance standards. This role will serve as a liaison between the company and its external auditors, supervising audit deliverables and internal operational risk assessments. The individual will also assist with internal compliance initiatives and partner with internal stakeholders to review, monitor and enhance applicable policies and procedures. The Internal Auditor will report to bswift’s Senior Manager – Internal Audit.

External Audit Management

· Assist with the management and completion of the organization’s annual HITRUST, SOC-1, and SOC-2+HIPAA audits.

· Be a liaison between the external auditors and internal teams, coordinating all necessary documentation and responses for external audits.

· Assist with the management and completion of external customer compliance and security audits

· Ensure all audit deliverables are prepared, reviewed, and submitted in a timely manner.

· Identify, document and drive the remediation of any compliance gaps discovered during audits.

· Collaborate with internal stakeholders to review and refine HITRUST policies and procedures.

Internal Risk Audits & Assessments

· Conduct internal audits and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with new and evolving compliance and security standards.

· Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to identify key risks, complete internal audits, drive risk mitigation and process improvements.

Stakeholder and Executive Reporting

· Prepare detailed audit reports and risk assessments for process owners and executive leadership, to support strategic decision-making regarding identified risks.

· Assist with ongoing audit department status reports to executive leadership and key stakeholders.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Required Education and Experience):

· 3+ years of experience with SOC-1, and SOC-2 audits

· Strong knowledge or exposure to HITRUST frameworks.

· Experience with a Software (SaaS) company.

· Proficiency in audit management tools (GRC platforms) and Microsoft Office Suite.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities.

· Ability to work cross-functionally in a high-paced environment, ensuring audit readiness.

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred education and experience):

· Health Benefits Administration and / or benefits insurance experience.

· Professional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certification in Control Self-Assessment (CCSA), Risk Management Professional (RMP), or equivalent.

· Experience independently conducting internal audits and risk assessments.

Standard working hours are 8am-5pm Central Time, unless otherwise stated in the Job Description. 

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $80,000-$100,000, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.  If you are hired at bswift, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package!
