SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
FirstKey Homes is seeking a detail-oriented audit associate to join our growing internal audit function. Reporting to the VP of Internal Audit, the auditor is responsible for supporting financial, operational, and internal controls audits by providing analysis and insights to drive process improvements. The auditor will be responsible for audit topic follow-up, tracking remediation efforts, collecting evidence, and referencing established policies, procedures, and workflows. This position requires strong analytical skills, the ability to interact with leaders across the organization, and occasional travel to district offices.
In this role, you will develop a unique blend of financial, operational, and technical skills along with a continuous improvement mindset. This is an individual contributor role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assist in the performance of audit procedures, including identifying and defining issues, developing criteria, reviewing and analyzing data, and evaluating controls across key functional areas
- Collect, organize, and analyze audit evidence, ensuring compliance with established company policies and procedures
- Reference and interpret company policies, procedures, and workflows to assess compliance and operational efficiency
- Assist in identifying and evaluating the company’s risk areas and provide input to the development of the annual Internal Audit Plan
- Prepare audit documentation, summaries, and reports for leadership review
- Perform follow-up reviews on actions taken to address audit issues identified
- Maintain and administer internal audit’s cloud-based platform, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and interact regularly with leaders at all levels

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Primarily working indoors, office environment.
- May sit for several hours at a time.
- Prolonged exposure to computer screens.
- Repetitive use of hands to operate computers, printers, and copiers.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field such as finance, economics, accounting, or business administration
- 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in a related field
- Strong analytical, organizational,, and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High proficiency using Microsoft Office, specifically with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Willingness to travel, including overnight, to FirstKey Homes district offices
- May at times be required to stand, walk, bend, and lift lightweight items for long periods of time
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in audit, compliance, financial analysis, or consulting
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or business administration
- Aptitude for working in a fast pace, high-growth environment
- Experience with planning and managing projects across disperse geographical locations
