Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, development, and test of new software for automation of optical system measurements
- Development of software applications and features for automated testing in Optical Systems lab
- Write software code in Python to control lab equipment, including ADVA modules and external test equipment such as optical spectrum analyzers
- Utilize a variety of equipment interfaces including Ethernet, serial, and GPIB
- Create basic user interface for custom automation program to be used in Optical Systems lab
- Test functionality with relevant lab equipment along with Optical Systems team members
- Provide clearly defined code structure and ample comments so that the program may be easily updated and augmented by others in the future
- Write a document describing the program and present results at internal meetings
- Present project updates and results to team members and summer intern group
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required
- Undergraduate student in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
- General coding skills; familiarity with Python is desirable but not required
Requirements and Work Environment
- Norcross, GA, USA (office environment, Photonics Lab)
- Able to work at desk most of the day and in the lab as needed
- Monday - Friday, 40-hour work week (flexible hybrid schedule as agreed with manager)
