This position is a part of the research and development organization and will be onsite at our Fargo location.   At Aldevron, we combine best-in-class products and service with the ideal operating environment to lay the groundwork for vital new discoveries worldwide.  You will be a part of the R&D  team and report to Director of R&D responsible for developing protein RNA and DNA products.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Protein Expression, Purification, and Characterization:

  • Express and purify recombinant proteins in microbial systems using shake flasks and automated bioreactors

  • Characterize in-process samples and purified proteins using methods including, but not limited to, OD determination, metabolite profiling, SDS-PAGE

  • Complete project plans according to all specifications, including timeline and budget

  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and work practices in the fields of protein expression, purification, and characterization

  • Prepare and deliver final presentation to the team on work performed during the internship

  • Maintain meticulous records; report results of scientific experiments, manufacturing runs, and analytical tests accurately and in a timely manner and ensure the labs are clean, well-organized and safe

  • Work effectively both within a team and independently on assigned projects

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Working towards an Undergraduate degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, microbiology, or a closely related field.

  • Previous lab experience

  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills and ability to follow written directions

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: 

  • Exposure to one or a combination of the following is preferred:  Automated single-use or glass bioreactor systems and control software or GE ÄKTA systems and unicorn software

Standard laboratory skills for a biochemistry or microbiology lab 

The hourly range for this role is $30.00. This is the rate that we in good faith believe is the rate of compensation for this role at the time of this posting.
