Overview
Work as an active member of the research and development team to perform functions such as design, building prototypes, troubleshooting, testing, problem solving, data analysis, and other duties as assigned.
Professional QualificationsEducation
Must be pursuing, or have completed, an undergraduate degree in Mechanical, Biosystems, Agricultural engineering, or a closely related field. Introductory course work in 3D CAD and software programming is essential. A junior status or higher in college preferred.
Experience
- Prior hands-on experience in design, testing, or research is desirable but not necessary, but an analytical inventive spirit is highly desirable!

- Demonstrated creativity and problem solving.
- Expected to work independently, as well as under direction of others.
- Attention to detail in both task execution and documentation.
- Effective oral and written communication skills in English.

Position ResponsibilitiesSpecific
- Participate in the design, development, prototyping, testing, troubleshooting of prototype instrumentation.
- Duties will be assigned based on the individual’s capabilities, experience, and education. Examples can include, but are not limited to:
- Have partial to full responsibility for the design, development, and testing of a prototype or sub-assembly of a prototype.
- Troubleshoot components, subsystems, and systems. Verify and validate results.
- Construct and/or modify prototypes with engineering guidance.
- Assist scientists & engineers with a variety of tasks during the prototype design and development process.
General
- Occasional travel may be necessary.
- Software training will be provided as necessary.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
