How you’ll make a difference:
- Participate in all aspects of our planning and urban design practice, from early analysis and visioning to the creation of conceptual and policy directions, and recommendations to implement and realize a diversity of great, complex, urban environment
- Support stakeholder engagement on several plans, urban designs, policies, and strategies for both public, community and private clients
- Work collaboratively with a cross-disciplinary team of people, engaging a broad constituency of clients, stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and the public
- Participate in a broad range of projects: from site specific planning to area wide policy reviews and master plans.
- Contribute to Transit/TOC planning and campus planning projects
- Present at and facilitate stakeholder meetings
- A believer in the power of human-centered design and interested in exploring practices to improve DIALOG’s user research and engagement methods
- Adaptable and comfortable with change. Nimble and able to respond to varying project needs
- A self-starter, quick learner with a positive attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit that takes initiative and is proactive
- Embody DIALOG's values: collaboration, diversity, aspiration, and optimism
Who you are:
- 3 to 10 years of experience in municipal, community, land use, or transit planning, ideally in a consulting environment
- An accredited degree in Urban Planning; a Master’s degree is an asset
- Eligible for Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation
- Understanding of and experience with the Ontario Planning Framework and development approval processes
- Ability to lead small projects and teams with minimal supervision, including scope development, team management, consultant coordination, and client management
- Experience in project planning, design, and technical production processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on effective collaboration and integration
- Highly organized, with a strong ability to bring order to complexity and acute attention to detail
While not required, you’ll stand out with:
- Project management experience
- Experience with programs such as Adobe Suite, GIS, and 3D modeling software
- Experience in participating in or facilitating creative, innovative, and accessible stakeholder and/or public engagement
- Strong abilities in visual and graphic communication skills
